Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, DevOps leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for the automation, governance, reliability, and cost optimization of cloud and on-premise infrastructure supporting mission-critical airline applications and services.
This role owns the strategy and execution of cloud operations, infrastructure as code (IaC), automation, network and IP management, security compliance, and cloud cost governance, with a strong focus on resource efficiency and vendor funding alignment.
As a key technology leader, this role is accountable for developing DevOps and Cloud capabilities, enhancing incident and problem management processes, leading operational excellence for CI/CD and SDLC automation, and collaborating across IT, development, security, and business teams to optimize investments, reduce costs, and maximize return on technology initiatives.
This includes overseeing cloud financial management, security posture improvements, and vendor contract management to ensure effective partnerships and cost-effective operations.

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of DevOps, DevSecOps, Cloud, and Systems Engineers.
  • Define and drive strategic direction for DevOps, Cloud, and automation initiatives.
  • Guide Systems Engineers through modernization toward cloud-centric roles.
  • Align infrastructure, security, and delivery priorities with business outcomes.
  • Promote career development, succession planning, and long-term team scalability.
  • Oversee secure, scalable, and cost-optimized Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Drive automation and implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Lead cloud financial operations (FinOps) and optimization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with IT Finance for cloud spend forecasting and budget tracking.
  • Build and manage automated dashboards for cost reporting and resource usage.
  • Ensure security and regulatory alignment in collaboration with IT Security.
  • Set and enforce coding, automation, and pipeline best practices across teams.
  • Conduct architectural and code reviews to ensure quality and scalability.
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships and negotiate contracts (e.g., Akamai, Microsoft, Dynatrace).
  • Plan and secure funding for major technology initiatives, optimizing costs and driving innovation.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud, or SRE roles, including at least 3+ years of people management.
  • Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred) at scale.
  • Strong background in automation, infrastructure as code, and observability platforms (Dynatrace preferred).
  • Previous eCommerce and large-scale online platform experience, including supporting transactional websites and critical APIs for high-volume customer environments.
  • Direct leadership in 24x7 operational support for production systems, including incident management, root cause analysis, and real-time service restoration for customer-facing and backend platforms.

 

Specialized Skills & Competencies

  • Cloud Platforms: Expertise in Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Automation & IaC: Terraform, CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), and governance automation.
  • Security: IAM, Cloud Governance, Akamai WAF/DNS, Azure Security features.
  • Observability & Monitoring: Dynatrace, Akamai BMP/CPR, and firewall/log visibility.
  • Scripting/Programming: PowerShell, Python, Bash for automation.
  • Leadership: Strong cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and people development.
  • Networking and Security: Understanding of IP management, DNS, WAF, and Zero Trust principles.
    Experience leading large cross-functional modernization initiatives and incident management processes.
