Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Field Sustain Engineering Supervisor to help lead and support our Sustaining Engineering team. In this role, you will supervise part of the team and be responsible for coordinating engineering support for repairs and alterations across all Cirrus aircraft models and generations. You will work closely with a group of talented engineers, providing direction, removing roadblocks, and ensuring they deliver timely, high-quality solutions that align with both company standards and customer expectations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace engineering, with expertise in aircraft systems, repair processes, and modifications. You will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the team, managing workloads, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of engineering tasks. Additionally, you will be a key point of contact for field support, ensuring the teams work aligns with Cirrus Aircrafts mission to provide safe and innovative aircraft solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Reporting to the Manager of Field Sustaining Engineering, the Supervisor of Field Engineering will lead a team responsible for providing engineering support for all Cirrus aircraft models and generations post-Certificate of Airworthiness. This role combines both individual technical contributions (50) and the supervision of engineers (50).
- Key responsibilities include:
- Mentor and onboard new engineers, providing training and guidance to ensure their success.
- Manage employee performance, conduct annual reviews, and implement performance improvement plans when necessary, with input from Project Engineers and Chief Engineers.
- Distribute and implement policies and directives from senior management to ensure team alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide expert guidance on structural repairs, mechanical systems, avionics, and regulatory compliance.
- Troubleshoot engineering failures, identify system weaknesses, and drive corrective actions.
- Maintain and develop a technical knowledge base within the functional area, incorporating emerging technologies as relevant.
- Develop detailed engineering packages to restore damaged aircraft to airworthy conditions.
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Communicate the status of engineering projects and risks effectively to maintenance providers and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain standards, processes, and best practices for engineering support within the field.
- Collaborate with Field Service leadership, Factory Service Centers, and maintenance providers to ensure smooth technical decision-making.
- Create and manage a prioritization and queuing system for incoming engineering support requests, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 7 years of relevant experience in engineering, with a focus on aerospace or mechanical systems.
- Proven experience leading teams of up to 10 engineers on complex projects.
- Previous experience with certifications and standards such as 14 CFR Part 23.
- Experience in engineering process development.
- Strong understanding of repair processes and methods.
- Proficiency in design tools such as CREO, MicroStation, or similar CAD programs.
- Familiarity with Change Management and Configuration Management tools (e.g., JIRA, Windchill, or equivalent).
- Pilot, Ground School, and/or A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated Proficiencies, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills: ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and disciplined approach to change management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project).
