Position Summary

The Supervisor Line Maintenance Planning reports to the Manager Line Maintenance Planning in the JetBlue Technical Operations Department.  The Supervisor Line Maintenance Planning oversees the forecasting, planning and scheduling of maintenance events to maintain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulatory standards, while meeting the needs of Technical Operations, System Operations, Brand, and other customers. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring optimum performance of Maintenance Planners to maintain fleet safety and internal/external customer satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Review planned/specialized workload and guide Maintenance Planners to support planned maintenance in accordance with the General Maintenance Manual (GMM)
  • Track and report daily progress by measuring and recording established metrics
  • Communicate critical issues with respective internal/external customers
  • Oversee recovery plan in the event the system operation is impacted by delays or cancellations
  • Supervise the Planners in preparing all scheduled line maintenance tasks such as, Service and Weekly checks, Phase checks, and deferred work (Minimum Equipment Lists (MELs), Configuration Deviation Lists (CDLs), Technical Service Instructions (TSIs), GMM items) according to overarching planning team objectives
  • Supervise team and work with the Maintenance Operations Center (MOC) team to ensure aircraft have appropriate work opportunity to accomplish team goals of meeting the maintenance constraints (manpower, ground time, capability, etc.)
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels available for daily workload
  • Monitor the “Maintenance and Engineering” (M&E) system for correct accomplishments of initial, final and repetitive tasks, including all Airworthiness Directive’s and Engineering Orders/Authorizations
  • Coordinate with Planners, Materials, Maintenance and Maintenance Control on all manpower, parts, and tooling required
  • Coordinate and communicate critical issues with respective internal/external customers
  • Oversee planners to ensure a balanced daily workload is published on time every day
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, goal achievement  
  • Perform any duty and or cover any role in planning when required
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Three (3) years of combined relevant work experience in any one of the following: 
    • Aircraft Maintenance Planning, a position requiring an Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Certificate, a material planning position, and/or in an aviation-related Engineering discipline
  • One (1) year of leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Aircraft Maintenance Programs/Maintenance Program Documents (AMPs/MPDs), Airworthy Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins (SBs)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to lead, train and motivate a team in a rapid moving operational environment
  • Experience establishing credible cross-divisional relationships 
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask and make critical decisions in a fast pace environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Software
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
  • Complete knowledge of regulatory requirement as it relates to maintenance and material handling
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Currently in possession of a valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located 
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Maintenance, Aviation Engineering, or related technical field
  • Valid Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
  • Three (3) years of aviation experience in Maintenance Planning
  • Five (5) years of combined relevant work experience in any one of the following: 
    • Aircraft Maintenance Planning, or a position requiring an Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Certificate and/or in an aviation-related Engineering discipline
  • One (1) year of Supervisor or higher leadership experience
  • Proficient in TRAX and Sabre/FliteTrac Plot, TOPS, or comparable flight schedule software
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance programs and Maintenance Review Board (MRB) processes

  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
