Primary Objective of the Position:

The Supervisor will operate under the direction of the Manager (E-commerce) and Station Manager. As part of the leadership team, this position will lead the Night shift team and oversee daily customer and aircraft requirements to ensure the efficient, on-time and safe handling of all cargo and aircraft.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Ensure that all customer loading/offloading requirements are met in accordance with standard criteria.
  • Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and cargo routing tags and ensure accuracy and operational requirements are met. Direct leadership with team members and lead hands is required.
  • Organize the team to ensure the safe & timely loading/offloading of trucks and aircraft and delegate duties to cargo handlers as required to ensure shifts are at optimal productivity.
  • At all times, ensure operations are in accordance with the highest possible standards of health, safety, and security and in accordance with all government statutory requirements.
  • Ensure all internal and billing paperwork is completed accurately with appropriate approvals provided.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, motivation and support to the office administration team members, lead hands, ramp staff and operators in order to maintain on-time performance of all flights. Provide training, coaching and feedback as appropriate.
  • Handle performance matters and discussions with sensitivity and professionalism. Work with HR on all discipline matters, issues, breaches, and investigations.
  • Communicate with customers in a professional, courteous manner concerning flights and volumes and other required corporate information.
  • Communication with Duty Managers, Customer Service, other stations, and internal team members in a respectful, professional, confidential, and timely manner to ensure on-time flight performance and to ensure other required expectations are met.
  • Maintain compliance with and enforce all company policies and procedures relating to the workplace (including but not limited to: attendance, uniforms, equipment operation, safety, etc.).
  • Delegate responsibilities as appropriate & ensure audits of all required areas are completed.
  • Initiate, maintain & improve operations by suggesting time/cost-saving ideas and strategies.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to irregular operations and late flights to ensure operational requirements are achieved.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Management/Supervisory role
  • Minimum 3 years experience in air cargo.
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License and reliable transportation.
  • Must possess an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) & Forklift license would be an asset.
  • Solid knowledge of local airport regulations.
  • Ability to effectively deal with a fast-paced, high-volume, constantly changing environment.
  • Must be trained in Health & Safety, WHMIS, Forklift, First-Aid, SMS, DG Handling, Air Cargo Security Measures, and other applicable Security training.
