Responsibilities

Job Summary

Oversee the Spirit Airlines’ ground equipment fleet to control costs, improve reliability, and maintain safety standards for Maintenance and airport operations.  Supervise contracting agencies with established standards, processes and procedures and compliance with agreed contract terms. Monitor all Ground equipment for Spirit Airlines and report to the GSE Manager. Evaluate condition of assets and assist in acquisition of ground equipment. Coordinate Spirit GSE contract companies and asset’s abroad and maintain scheduled maintenance programs while adhering to budget guidelines.

  • Ensure safety excellence and superior equipment reliability that supports the overall operational needs of the station
  • Ability to aid in Troubleshooting GSE equipment
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret wiring schematics
  • Must be able to interpret and monitor Contracts established for various vendors
  • Develop periodic maintenance programs and SOPs for ground equipment
  • Perform equipment audits of PM work ordered and inventory audits
  • Achieve superior financial performance by modernizing and refining processes and technology that produce industry leading results
  • Provide outstanding leadership during complex projects ensuring timelines and budget goals are met resulting in a high-quality product
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Relevant work experience of at least 5 years managing ground support equipment shop, desirable.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and required FAA, airport and/or Customs identification, seals, and authorizations
  • Automotive maintenance experience.
  • Undergraduate degree with 10 years airline ground support management experience a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with heavy mechanical/diesel engines, GSE and various vehicle makes/models; 
  • Travel frequently by car and airplane.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, and uses eye/hand coordination, color definition.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds consistently.
  • Work under pressure while still maintaining near 100 accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Trax, or Maxamo
  • Strong knowledge of GSE Maintenance programs.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple assignments.
  • Highly approachable professional demeanor.
  • Domestic & International travel approximately 50 of time.

Education/Experience Specific Field:

  • GSE Knowledge
  • Forklift driving experience
  • Budget Planning
  • Strategic Sourcing of Parts and Equipment
  • 5+ year mechanical/automotive repair experience required
  • Diesel, and Gasoline Propulsion Diagnosis and repair experience Preferred.
  • Hydraulic, and Mechanical Experience a must.
  • ASE Certification a Plus

Specialized Skills

  • Experience in capacity planning.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, with the ability to read several moves ahead of the market and schedule as required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft word and Excel
