MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Control Responsibilities 

  • Provide weekly KPIs and priorities for every Inspector on Manufacturing ( Intermediate and Final) and Receiving Inspections based on the Dispatch list. 

  • Ensure the weekly KPIs are met and take corrective actions to address any anomalies.

  • Managing any backlog with OT as needed.

  • Proactively identifying risks in the department to the attention of the Head of Quality.

  • Creation, approval and revision of Inspection Documents.

  • Ensure all Inspectors are adequately trained on Inspection Documents.

  • Ensure the validations of all First Article Inspections (FAIs) for all new / modified parts / products / kits manufactured by AHCA.

  • Supervise the creation and revision of Quality Assurance documentation (Delivery Documents, PVL, Demande d’ Accord).

  • Initiate NCs with Inspectors in a timely manner and manage containment of identified NCs.

  • Lead and support Cost of Non Quality KPIs by proactively engaging in timely Root Cause and Corrective Actions, Implementation of Curative and Corrective Actions and Improvement Workshops.

  • Ensure calibrated equipment assigned to QA are managed and returned for calibration on time.

Quality Assurance Responsibilities 

  • Liaise with Manufacturing Engineering and AHCA Engineering for the satisfactory disposition of NCR’s.

  • Support role in authoring of Technical Notes and other planned deviations or Standard Repair documentation.

  • Support the review and ensure that processes are compliant to specifications for composite part manufacturing. 

  • Support all Manufacturing Technicians in coaching them on the Inspection Acceptance Criteria.

  • Ensure tooling definition delivers expected part quality level, participate in the review of new tooling definition and documentation, conduct tooling conformity inspection and recurrent inspection

  • Participate in the validation and selection of materials, advise on part makeup (lay-up, bonding, surface protection) and cure cycles.

  • Participate as needed for Design Change Requests affecting composite manufacturing.

  • Provide oversight and feedback for AHCA generated manufacturing instructions to ensure compliance to engineering drawings.

  • Participate in the review, bid process of manufacturing work packages and interpretation of drawings, material specifications, manufacturing processes, etc., during the setup for new manufacturing.

  • Support Manufacturing Inspection related Internal and External Audit findings by identifying effective process based root causes and corrective actions.

  • Identifying opportunities to mitigate risks related to Human Factors.

  • Supporting all Objectives pertinent to Aviation Safety, Operational Health & Safety and Environmental Safety.

  • Conduct performance reviews for all inspectors and maintain their time cards including vacation requests and sick day approvals.


 

Identify and Implement Process Improvements

  • Identify relevant Quality Assurance Manufacturing Inspection training needs/opportunities

  • Proactively identify Manufacturing inspection risks and propose improvements to mitigate them.

  • Advocate and champion decisions based on data and support all Cost of Non Quality KPIs.

  • Advocate decisions based on identification of clear and objective requirements in Quality. 

  • Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization 


 

EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • College Diploma or equivalent in work experience & technical training 

  • 5 years’ experience in composite component manufacturing environments, preferably in aerospace.

  • 5 years’ experience in the Quality Assurance field

  • 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity considered an asset

  • Accurate, clear and timely completion of tasks necessary to develop aeronautical products.

  • Strong initiative and motivation necessary to work independently and in a team environment to drive development to achieve the highest standard of quality.

  • Ability to learn, understand and follow departmental and company procedures.

  • Ability to bring the context of long term strategic objectives and goals and apply them to day to day activities and decisions making.

  • Sound understanding of Quality Systems.

  • High level of understanding of the composite manufacturing and repair processes necessary to implement necessary controls and support all associated departments. Also assist in the production and improvements of components, analysis of processes and repairs to work in process.

  • Good understanding of CAD system, (CATIA V5 basics)

  • High level of understanding of AH material and process specifications

  • Ability to prepare and present comprehensive reports on Manufacturing Quality to customers (Airbus Helicopter) and Management
