Job Description:

We’re hiring a Planning / Scheduling Supervisor to help drive our continued success! 

Purpose of the role:

MHIRJ’s network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Planning/Scheduling Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning and schedule of maintenance activities in a service center network (SCN) facility. This position is accountable for ensuring that maintenance activities are efficiently planned to minimize downtime and optimize operations. The Planning/Scheduling Supervisor will provide leadership of all department team members and ensure their safety as well as performance and quality standards are achieved. They ensure the team coordinates with operations to align resources and schedules, facilitate cross-role collaboration and resolve operational challenges by working closely with operations, engineers, and managers. The position ensures policies and procedures, technical standards and methods, and priorities are achieved with oversight by upper management. This position may require occasional overnight business travel and attendance at meetings before or after normally scheduled hours.

Here are the daily responsibilities of a Planning / Scheduling Supervisor:

  • Responsible for building and maintaining positive employee relations including employee recognition and disciplinary actions.
  • Responsible for the daily and overall operations of the maintenance planning department – to include safety, schedules, personnel, training, and quality.
  • Supervise the performance of work package assembly and ensure procedures follow the Repair Station/Quality Manual, Site Operating Procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities for assigned employees and area(s) for but not limited to:
    • Conduct team meetings
    • Timekeeping: ensure employee hours are accurate, track attendance
    • Approve timecards, employee leave and vacation requests
    • Performance management program and reviews
    • Coach team members on leadership and technical skills
    • Manage team performance for KPIs to include quality, predraw release, work package completion and customer pre-induction meetings
    • Participate in interview processes and recommend hiring decisions
    • Address challenges, identify, and communicate best practices & champion continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency
    • Providing direction, setting expectations, and motivating team members
  • Organize work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure deadlines are met and priorities are staffed accordingly at all times.
  • Communicate and administer team related policies and procedures.
  • Act as a bridge between employees and upper management, sharing important updates.
  • Interface with management and various other departments in support of the RFP process.
  • Oversee production planning department and process used to provide work packages and work flows for each aircraft.
  • Provide guidance and monitoring of progress on major projects.
  • Oversee, develop and/or coordinate readiness plans for new customers as required by assigned site(s).
  • All other duties as assigned.

Here is what is required to succeed:

  • Minimum of three (3) years heavy industrial planning experience – preferably within aircraft maintenance.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in aviation, Engineering or related technical industrial field (preferred)
  • Project management experience (a plus)
  • Intermediate computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web-based applications used to manage maintenance work.
  • Customer service mindset and approach within communications (verbal & written) and when needing to diffuse situations between internal and external customers.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance inspection programs for jet aircraft.
  • Proficiency with computerized aircraft maintenance documentation systems.
  • Working knowledge of process improvement methodology.
  • Working knowledge of FAA and Federal Aviation Requirements.
