Job description

Supervisor, Planning and CDM

The Supervisor, Planning and CDM will supervise the Planning and CDM Department with a team of configuration management and manufacturing engineer planners developing the Work Instructions and configuration policies, procedures, and methods across the site with multiple customers having several different drawing, modeling, and CM processes.  The Supervisor will set the direction for the site in revamping the existing processes and procedures, MBOM creation and management, and Work Instruction methods to take advantage of the power of SAP and Teamcenter.

The Planning & CM department is responsible for managing all data from customers to review, load into the Teamcenter systems, manage Daher-Stuart’s internal Change Control Board, and write the work instructions required to build the multitude of small-to-large, simple-to-complex aircraft sub-assemblies, assemblies, and installations.

This individual will work cross-functionally with Safety, Manufacturing, Industrial, and Quality Engineering departments, as well as Supply Chain Management to define the best CM and Planning practices to meet the strictest of Safety and aerospace quality and configuration management standards.

This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Production Engineering and will have supervisory/ management duties such as manpower planning, budgeting, interviewing, appraisals, and disciplinary actions per the approved Daher processes and procedures.

Job Duties

  • Create and foster a culture of Continuous Improvement within the teams
    • Identify changes needed within the department to streamline processes, improve efficiencies, and increase Work Instruction and MBOM quality, accuracy, and speed
    • Coordinate regular system updates and improvements
  • Foster a culture of teamwork between the individual teams as well as across Production Engineering and the site working in an IPT format
  • Leadership will be primarily strategic (>75) with some tactical (<25) guiding your teams to perform at the highest levels while maintaining SQDCT
    • Weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports
    • Monthly skip-levels
    • Quarterly 360deg. reviews
    • Developing and managing KPI’s across the teams related to SQDCT
  • Lead and perform mid-year and year-end appraisals/ reviews focusing on Daher “Competencies” as well as a developed measurable SMART goals approach to setting/ measuring goals, employee ratings, rankings, and compensation increases removing the subjectivity usually seen in employee reviews

Profile and other information related to the position

Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university, or a combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of education
  • 10&43; years of demonstrated progressive experience in developing and leading the implementation and transition of an aerospace PLM and ERP system to better utilize the systems for EBOM, MBOM, work instructions, and Manufacturing Config. Mgmt. rules, is required
  • Experience using ERP and PLM software is required; SAP and Teamcenter Manufacturing, Bill of Process, etc. is highly preferred
  • CMPIC certification is required
  • Previous experience at a greenfield or brownfield start-up for a large aerospace structures manufacturer or OEM is highly preferred
  • Ability to create and manage project schedules is required; MS Project and/ or PMP certification is preferred
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization and customers
