Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Supplier Development Manager to join our Procurement department based in Mobile, AL.

Fully integrated in the Procurement organization, General Procurement’s (GP) mission is to procure indirect goods and services on behalf of the entire Group (Airbus commercial, Airbus Helicopters), and as such to play a major role in generating value and contributing to the overall competitiveness of the company.

We are looking for a Supplier Development Manager (SDM) for the scope of Manufacturing Technologies, Products & Services suppliers (Assembly lines, jigs & tools, logistics and transport services, industrial maintenance, etc ...).

In this role you will cover a large variety of activities/products and suppliers, working in close collaboration with several Airbus organizations /plants and group divisions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supplier Development and Improvement Management – 60

  • Enhance supplier relationships by supporting them in building robustness in their supply chain and conduct the creation of Continuous Improvement plans or road-maps.
  • Improve supplier performance through the implementation of advanced actions
  • Define and Lead the Supply Chain & Quality Improvement Program in line with GP commodities’ Strategy & Objectives.
  • Liaise, where necessary, with other Supply Chain and Quality Managers (SCQM) to define further activity required at supplier site (Correct, Improve or Develop)
  • Propose, define and launch improvement plans with Suppliers in scope to continuously improve suppliers’ performances and/or capability

Supplier Control – 20

  • Manage and perform all activities for Supplier Approval, Couple Compliance & Surveillance in scope:
  • Support Quality Responsible for completing Supplier Control Reviews, supplier approval and Couple Compliance declaration of product/service in the frame of Supplier Couple Compliance and/or recovery actions
  • Follow up on all standard Airbus tools in accordance with GP and Airbus policy, processes and procedures including but not limited to M20556 / M20193 / A2135…
  • Ensure all related supplier quality data recording is up to date
  • Interface with aviation regulators, perform gap analysis & action plans follow-up
  • Maintenance of updated Supplier lists entering into AIRBUS POA scope (to be done in coordination with US stakeholders: buyers and internal requesters)
    • Verify that the suppliers’ Quality Assurance Plans continuously meets Airbus requirements
    • Perform and support process audit at Supplier Sites for Couple Compliance purposes as per M20193
    • Support Supplier Approval, Couple Compliance & Surveillance locally for other POA/DOA scope than the one you are responsible for as “Involved Quality People” role defined in M20193
    • Ensure local quality & buyer activities impacting PJOX are communicated efficiently in order to define & action any relevant activities arising from ”local” decisions, issues, activities, or international commodities contracted in local area.
    • Support Supplier CID (Correct Improve and Develop) missions or connect them with the organization in charge of Improvement Activities at Suppliers as a result of conducting scheduled Supplier Control Reviews, in line with GP strategy
    • Manage defined periodic reviews or exceptional ones with Airbus organizations (Procurement, Manufacturing, Plants, and Programs) and relevant stakeholders (e.g. Internal Customers & local or international Aviation Regulations) to review Supplier Quality Assurance and Compliance to Airbus business requirements (including external referential e.g. EN9100…).

Supplier Performance Management – 10

  • Support the definition and implementation of the SCQ strategy and dashboard for the sub-commodity
  • Ensure the OTD and OQD performance indicators of sub-commodity suppliers.
  • Implement regular monitoring of supplier delivery and quality performance. Launch appropriate activities to correct deterioration in performance (CID)
  • Perform supplier delivery and quality performance reviews with high risk / strategic suppliers
  • Perform or coordinate supplier assessments to evaluate supplier capability/capacity
  • Management of supplier action plans following assessments, recoveries or improvement missions
  • Support annual supplier rating campaign (SED) by providing appropriate Quality and Logistics KPIs
  • Contribute to the definition of Strategic Suppliers Segmentation

Supplier Risk Management – 10

  • Manage, identify and mitigate risk at supplier level by performing on-site capability assessments (ESCCA&43;…)
  • Manage the specific internal customer work package risk and ensure the prioritization of mitigating actions through CID or SQIP

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • A Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration or a related field is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

  • (5)&43; years of experience in Procurement, Quality, or related functions. Preferred experience with increasingly higher level of authority and accountability.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Project Management Certification is desirable
  • Any Quality Certifications are desirable

Travel Required:

  • Regular travel domestically and internationally could be required, up to 25 at times if supplier audits and visits are required.

Eligibility:

  • Able to work in the US without a current or future need for visa sponsorship

  • Number of work packages in scope/portfolio: Around 20-40 work packages
  • Number of transnational GP buyers: Around 20 local GP US buyers & 5-10 European GP buyers
