The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for achieving strategic purchasing objectives, operational requirements, and business goals aligned with the centralized purchasing program across Motion Control Solutions, including managing and developing a team of employees to ensure a world class supply chain organization. The Supply Chain Manager is further responsible for key supplier relationships, supplier identification, site specific contracts and long-term agreements, purchase forecasting/accuracy as it pertains to sales inventory operations planning (SIOP) and communicating analysis information to sites of responsibility. Core Responsibilities:

  • Directly manages and develops a purchasing team supporting global locations
  • Works with Quality, Sales, Engineering, Marketing and Operations personnel to assure timely resolution of product related issues.
  • Supports long-term supplier agreements and strategic alliances developed by the MCS Supply Chain teams.
  • Evaluates supplier processes and monitors supplier performance to obtain lowest total supply chain costs and best overall product line offering.
  • Leads purchasing and cross functional teams on continuous improvement initiatives for internal processes.
  • Creates and maintains various reports and analyses in support of supply chain and site level objectives.
  • In partnership with supply chain and business leadership, provides proactive plans to ensure company has a cohesive and comprehensive supply chain solution, including the development and start-up of new product lines and growth initiatives.
  • Accountable for managing total cost productivity, supplier terms, and inventory reduction; ensures supplier performance for fill-rate, delivery, quality and contract compliance.
  • Ensures that all supplier data is maintained accurately within the information system databases.
  • Creates and implements strategic and tactical project plans to meet supply chain and company objectives.
  • Works with Finance to assure timely resolution of payment issues and accurate tracking of productivity projects.
  • Understand and ensure customer specific requirements are met by all suppliers.
  • Tracks and is responsible for on time delivery, Inventory value and reduction, demand value vs operations capacity, Past due backlog value and reduction, forecasting accuracy in purchasing, purchase price variance (PPV) cost reduction program and adherence/accuracy to the SIOP process by managing other departmental inputs.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced PC skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office package with emphasis on Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and Access (or Sequel); ability to learn other software packages and maintain an awareness of technology advancements.
  • Understanding of total product cost and ‘should-cost analysis for use in negotiations.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to make decisions and recommendations based on data analysis required.
  • Demonstrated progressively responsible global sourcing experience; knowledge of global commodity markets in low cost countries highly preferred; strong distribution and/or manufacturing knowledge a plus.
  • Prior experience leading a team of diverse individuals including remote, hybrid and one site professionals
  • 2+ years of direct supervisory or managing of people experience
  • Proven success interacting with peers, senior management, direct reports, and other functional areas to assure the best overall product line offering is developed at the lowest total cost.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to contribute to strategic decisions, while driving detailed implementation plans.
  • 5+ years in purchasing or other relevant experience required; minimum 3 years management experience preferred
  • Experience in a distribution environment with many SKUs
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in supply chain, business or related field; MBA preferred.
  • APICS/CPIM certification preferred.
