The Boeing Company is looking for a Tech Lead Data Lakehouse Architect to join our team in Seattle, WA.

We are a product led analytics group within Boeing Defense and Space, transforming the way data is sourced, designed and used to help us scale seamlessly in face of incredible growth. We are looking for a Tech Led Data Lakehouse Architect & Developer to be a thought leader in how to design, implement, manage and scale our lakehouse architecture using Databricks for all our use-cases. You will join a growing Data Analytics, Engineering & Integration team that supports the data needs for internal stakeholders, across all business functions. You will report to the Sr Director of Data Analytics and work closely with our leadership and business partners to complete an on-premises to cloud data migration.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a thought leader
  • Works with executives and fellow architects to define lakehouse architecture, strategy and roadmap to build the best lakehouse architecture for our internal use-cases.
  • Has a full stack view of opportunities across data sourcing, scalable workflows, data platform, automation frameworks and visualization design.
  • Helps evaluate new data technologies and tools.
  • Establishes and maintains data standards to policies to drive consistency and standardization for all data assets.
  • Defines the vision and strategy of data products that will be used for business use-cases
  • Builds empathy for our customers and deliver data solutions that have measurable impact on the business
  • Builds data models that are flexible and extensible to account for the future needs of our high scalable products
  • Creates and implements blueprints for data management processes and procedures, across the Boeing Defense and Space organization to support business objectives
  • Works with product managers to deeply understand business requirements and constraints
  • Works with technical leads to convert data models into actionable execution plans, to drive execution for key initiatives
  • Builds strong relationships with our internal team and business partners
  • Designs and develops a Lakehouse platform (e.g., Snowflake or Databricks)

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of enterprise architecture experience, including but not limited to cloud architecture, security, data privacy, integration, and deployment
  • Experience with On Prem to Cloud space design, especially with the hurdles of onsite to cloud integration
  • 5+ years of experience with Data Warehouses, data processing (Extract-Transform-Load / Extract-Load-Transform) and data management
  • 5+ years of experience delivering architecture & design solutions supporting data security
  • 5+ years of experience with DevOps software including Gitlab, Ansible, Terraform, Jira, Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub, AWS Codebuild, AWS CodePipelines, and AWS CodeGuru

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working directly with stakeholders on a variety of different requirements with different levels of technical understanding
  • Understanding of AI/ML platforms and data requirements to facilitate development of AI/ML models
  • Experience working with ITAR, EAR, and other types of sensitive data.
  • A technical master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, operations research, bioinformatics, information systems, economics, computational biology, physics, or chemistry.

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years related work experience, Master+18 years related work experience, 24 years related work experience, etc.)

Summary pay range: $192,950 to 261,050
