Technical Inspector Lead
Job Description:

Technical Inspector Lead performs the full range of inspections on commercial vehicles, powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline, multi-fuel or diesel. Types include those of military, commercial, and industrial usage in a motor pool environment, such as trucks, and forklifts. Also, may include multi-wheel drive vehicles with standard or automatic transmission, auxiliary equipment and groundskeeping equipment and vehicles (mowers, dozers, scrapers, batwings) as well as with small arms and crew-served weapons, along with towed, self-propelled, and turret artillery and their mounts, turrets, and carriages from operator’s Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) through Unit Maintenance PMCS using applicable Technical Manual.


Responsibilities

  • Have knowledge of teardown and fault determinations.
  • Be involved in diagnosing the source of the problem and determining the extent of repairs and make cost estimates.
  • Must be proficient in GCSS-Army. Possess the ability to track statuses, produce status sheets, and review work order and equipment histories.
  • Determines and orders repair parts for each work order using correct technical
  • Review closed work orders, in process work orders, timecards, and project forms for accuracy.
  • Brief customers on correct statuses and estimated completion date.
  • Responsible for the inventory and tracking of hand receipt items.
  • Assist other inspectors in finding reference material, part numbers, and vendors.
  • Responsible for providing estimates IAW DA Pam 750-8.
  • Uses technical manuals, bulletins and written directives in the performance of inspections and equipment validation.
  • Work involves diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required, replacing worn or broken parts.
  • Determines and orders repair parts for each work order using correct technical manual.
  • Ensure shops are Staffed in the event of inspector absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in the inspection of military equipment.
  • Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.
  • Ability to receive a favorable TIER-1 Investigation results, obtain and maintain a CAC.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must have knowledge of tactical and commercial equipment maintenance.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in technical inspection.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, they may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. May occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
  • PPE required.
