Joby Aviation •
San Carlos, California, United States
Position Type: Permanent
Job Description:
Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

Join our dynamic and growing team at Joby as a Total Rewards Manager. In this pivotal role, you will drive the organizations compensation and benefits strategies, ensuring they are competitive, fair, and aligned with our evolving business needs. Your focus will be roughly 80 on compensation and 20 on benefits, including evolving compensation strategies as we grow, working alongside the team performing pay reviews, and overseeing the growth of our benefits program with a focus on compliance, effectiveness, and scalability. As we transition from manual processes to technology-driven solutions, your expertise in HRIS implementation and ability to manage a small team will be invaluable.

Responsibilities
  • Evolve the companys compensation philosophy, ensuring it aligns with industry standards and company growth objectives.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at scaling our compensation program, including the standardization of salary structures, the integration of innovative technologies, and the strategic redesign of processes.
  • Partner closely with the Recruiting team on creating compelling and equitable offers and address candidate inquiries related to compensation and benefits, as needed.
  • Conduct pay reviews for new hires, promotions, and transfers, balancing market data, internal equity, and individual qualifications.
  • Collaborate with brokers, the People Team, and executive leadership team to set benefits strategy, prioritizing participant needs, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee benefits program operations, including open enrollment and participant experience, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Manage a small team of 2-3 professionals.
Required
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in compensation and benefits management.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in compensation and benefits.
  • Proven analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders verbally, in writing, and through impactful presentations.
  • Understanding of statutory and regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to benefits, including ACA compliance regulations.
Desired
  • Prior experience in managing a small team.
  • Experience in HRIS implementation.
  • SHRM or WorldatWork certification.
  • Background in one or more of the following sectors: technology, aerospace, and/or manufacturing.

The target base pay for this position is $110,000 - $180,000/year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
