UK & Ireland Business Development Manager

Your role

Aer Lingus would like to present an exciting opportunity to join our sales team as Business Development Manager for the UK and Ireland. The Business Development Manager will have responsibility for driving incremental revenue though key account management across UK & Ireland territories. The role will warrant a high level of commercial acumen, effective time management and strong negotiation skills in order to achieve revenue goals.

 

The successful candidate will be tasked with maximising brand awareness in the market particularly in promoting Dublin as a hub to USA from UK and growing share on the direct long-haul routes from Manchester.

 

Your responsibilities as Business Development Manager will include:

 

  • The main focus will be to drive strategic account management across a selected portfolio and maintain a targeted call cycle with high performance accounts.
  • Achieve revenue targets as set by business and drive company agenda.
  • Execute annual sales plans as agreed with head of Leisure to ensure delivery on all KPI’s.
  • Maximise revenue opportunities by developing a proactive sales strategy to enable gain in market share
  • Work closely with UK commercial manager to maximise the airlines awareness in the UK as a carrier of choice to the USA via Dublin gateway initiative and on UK direct LH flying.
  • Manage group account portfolio and series contracting.
  • Actively evaluate and progress all opportunities to further reduce cost of sale.
  • Strategically monitor the market and continuously review the sales, marketing, pricing and distribution strategies with a view to increasing the market shares, and also seizing potential opportunities for enhancing revenue and yield
  • Negotiate, manage and monitor override agreements for key leisure accounts and manage SLAs, working closely with AJB counterparts on commercial negotiations.
  • Maintain the overall administrative and budgetary control of your account profile and manage co-op account campaigns and report on ROI.
  • Monitor and share MI in relation to pricing, incentives and activity in market with OALS
  • Provide adequate and timely feedback to management on achievements/ deficiencies/market trends, and challenges together with recommendation an insights on issues in order to support the decision making process
  • Act as Ambassador for Aer Lingus at key trade/industry events and maximise brand exposure.
  • Ensure trade communication and training is maximised via social and web tools.
  • Work with key stakeholders and be an effective team player

 

Your qualifications and key criteria

  • 3rd Level degree or equivalent industry experience of 3yrs.
  • A successful track record in a competitive sales environment.
  • Good knowledge of airline sales processes.
  • Results driven and proven track record of influencing efficiency.
  • Experience in GDS or airline systems a distinct advantage
  • An excellent command of the English language (written and spoken).
  • Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills.
  • Ambitious with a strong drive to succeed.
  • Proven ability to succeed working in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent knowledge and awareness of market conditions, customer needs, competition and financial requirements of the airline
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
  • Provide two verifiable references.
  • Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5-year background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in Dublin.
