Job Description:

As Vice President  Security Hub Operations you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Emirates Group Security hub operations, ensuring the safety and security of our company’s assets, employees, and customers. Lead and manage the effective utilisation of  resource, technology and security frameworks to ensure the physical security of all Emirates Group facilities, assets and operations. Balance cost effective security measures with ensuring the requirements of the state regulator, industry best practices, IATA, ICAO, and EK Group standards are met. 


In this role you will:



  • Plan, direct and lead the Airport Security Unit which delivers comprehensive, 24 hour security services to a large and complex operation, comprising of Emirates and other airlines.  This is including passenger facing document verification and handling inadmissible passengers.  Working with internal and external stakeholders, support the prevention of illegal travel/immigration and specifically human trafficking, document forgery, or any other security risk to the company, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations.      

  • Responsible for the effective control of all aviation security functions related to aircraft protection in Dubai Airport as well as Dubai World Central for Emirates Airlines and other contracted airlines. Develop and maintain the highest standard of security services in line with applicable regulations for all relevant destinations, customer experience and requirements for on time departure. Partner with internal departments, as well as external airport agencies and regulators, to ensure effective coordination and understanding of changing policies, systems and procedures.

  • Lead, develop and maintain the provision of security services for Emirates SkyCargo and dnata Cargo terminal operations in both Dubai Airport and Dubai World Central. Partner effectively with internal departments, external airport agencies and regulators. Drive innovation and display a strong understanding of the specific business areas and potential risks to ensure appropriate development, tailoring and alignment of security services.

  • Develop and manage the security operations of Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) and its related facilities in Dubai Airport, Off Airport Installations and Dubai World Central. Monitor and control the highest standard of security procedures for both Emirates Airlines as well as the other airlines that operate from two separate flight catering facilities. Develop the `Known Supplier’ concept, enabling security measures and screening to be adopted at the point of origin and secure freight / transportation of supplies to the EKFC. Work closely with Dubai Civil Aviation (DCA), police etc. on the development, implementation and management of an oversight programme to ensure that processes/measures are rigorously carried out.

  • Develop and implement procedural revision and corrective action for all Cargo Terminals, business and accommodation facilities of the Group. Plan with contingencies for improved results (service, quality, and costs) and pro-actively seek to achieve and maintain competitive edge for the Group.

  • Lead, develop and maintain the provision of security services for accommodation and facilities of Emirates Group which include EGHQ, dnata HQ, EK Engineering buildings, crew operations centre, employee accommodation etc. Partner closely with the facilities department to ensure that the business facilities meet the national regulations on security requirements i.e. Public Security Board (PSB).

  • Manage the screening methodology for cargo in accordance to the NCASP (National Civil Aviation Security Programme) and ICAO Annex 17 and the crew operations centre at EGHQ. Develop and maintain the integrity of the area while not compromising on the normal flow and course of business at EGHQ. Oversee the security screening, aviation security specific and general security services to Dubai Airports, Dubai Duty Free, Emirates Flight Catering and third party airlines (including trace detection screening for Dubai Airports).

  • Lead the development of a potent and workable security plan for Emirates Group in the hub in relation to security systems and the deployment of technology. These are to be strategically implemented with the best available technology in line with aviation, international and national regulations and also industry best practices. This includes airport terminals, cargo terminals, the crew operations centre, security design for aircraft, Group commercial facilities and accommodation etc. Maintain close contact with Airport Engineering project services, Police project teams, Group departments, national regulators, suppliers and aircraft manufacturers to ensure that the technical solutions meet the short and long term goals and revenues of Emirates Group. Where required, perform an advisory role in relation to security systems and best practice across the network.

  • Develop and maintain the highest standard of service, controlling the efficient delivery of all security products within a total quality environment in line with ISO 9001, ISO 2800, RA3 certification for dnata warehouses and where applicable the TACSS (TAPA Air Cargo Security Standards), CT PAT and ACC3 Cargo certification.
    Lead, motivate and manage a diverse team of security experts and operational staff, ensuring a strong and positive team culture is encouraged, and that they are exposed to relevant training and development opportunities in order to fulfil their roles effectively.

Job Requirements:

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:



  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)  in a relevant discipline

  • 12+ yrs   Security experience, preferably in an aviation environment


Knowledge/skills: 



  • Certified by ICAO - Aviation Security Professional Manager

  • Experience in the field of facility security and security planning including at a leadership level with direct management / responsibility of a business unit.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of airline security operations on the ramp, cargo terminals and flight catering facilities.

  • Skills in drafting security policies and procedures, operating manuals and contracts.

  • Comprehensive knowledge in project planning for security systems and screening technologies in both general and aviation security fields, including critical infrastructure projects and awareness / impact.
