POSITION SUMMARY: The Weekend Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational, technical, and safety aspects of the Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) aircraft conversion program and Maintenance Check work during weekend shifts. This role ensures continuity of operations, adherence to project timelines, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination between cross-functional teams. The Duty Manager serves as the primary point of contact for escalation, decision-making, and issue resolution outside standard weekday operations.

The Weekend Duty Manager plays a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted progress of the P2F conversion program and Maintenance Checks by providing leadership, maintaining safety and quality standards, and driving operational excellence during non-standard working hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assumes responsibility for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of Avionics/Electrical Department functions

Operational Oversight

  • Lead and manage all weekend P2F conversion activities, maintenance check activities ensuring alignment with project schedules and milestones
  • Monitor production flow, resource allocation, and shift performance to maintain efficiency and productivity
  • Act as the central authority for real-time operational decision-making

Program Coordination

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure seamless workflow
  • Ensure all work packages are executed according to approved engineering data and regulatory requirements
  • Provide clear handover reports to weekday management, including progress updates, risks, and outstanding issues

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to FAA/EASA/CAA and company safety and quality standards
  • Conduct routine safety walk-throughs and address hazards or non-compliance issues immediately
  • Ensure all documentation and work performed meet airworthiness and regulatory requirements

Issue Resolution & Escalation

  • Identify and resolve operational, technical, or staffing issues in a timely manner
  • Escalate critical risks or delays to senior leadership as required
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for complex conversion or maintenance challenges

Team Leadership

  • Supervise weekend shift supervisors, technicians, and support staff
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to ensure high team performance
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of work progress, delays, incidents, and resource utilization
  • Prepare and deliver detailed weekend status reports
  • Ensure proper shift turnover communication and documentation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 8–12 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, modification, or heavy check environments
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Proficiency in maintenance tracking systems and reporting tools
  • Familiarity with P2F conversion workflows and structural modifications
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekdays and holidays as required


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in aviation maintenance, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
  • Prior experience in P2F conversion programs and Maintenance Check strongly preferred
  • Additional regulatory or safety certifications are a plus

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Friday–Saturday–Sunday 0500 – 1730 (5am – 2:30pm)
  • Extended hours and on-call availability may be required


WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.

Standing extended time periods. Walking for long distances. Using upper body to press against something with steady force. Using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects. Use of upper body and back muscles to lift objects.

Medium work; exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


TRAVEL: Travel may occasionally be required for this position (20 or less).


WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship. Must be able to pass a post offer DOT drug test upon hire.
