Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
The Machinist operates, sets up, inspects, cleans, and maintains CNC machines to produce precision parts according to detailed specifications. This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical documents, as well as to understand setup documentation for drilling, boring, milling, and other machining operations. The Machinist ensures that finished products meet strict quality requirements and tolerances through careful measurement and inspection.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently to produce parts according to job specifications.
- Set up CNC machines for a variety of operations, including drilling, boring, and milling, following setup documents and work instructions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and other technical documents to determine machining requirements.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job.
- Inspect finished products using measuring tools to verify that dimensions and tolerances meet quality requirements.
- Compare completed parts against specifications and quality standards, and make adjustments to machine settings as needed.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Monitor machine operations and identify any issues, irregularities, or defects during production.
- Document production information and inspection results accurately, following established procedures.
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience.
- Proficiency in operating CNC machines for drilling, boring, and milling operations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications.
- Ability to understand and follow CNC setup documents and work instructions.
- Strong skills in inspecting finished products and using measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Attention to detail and commitment to meeting established quality standards.
- Ability to perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on CNC equipment.
- Solid understanding of machining processes and shop safety practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with quality requirements and tolerance standards for precision machining.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues and make necessary adjustments.

Work Environment
This position is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility with CNC machining equipment. Available schedules include a 2nd shift from 4:15 p.m. to 2:45 a.m., Monday through Thursday, and a weekend shift from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and comfort, with consistent temperatures to support precision machining and operator well-being.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maize, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
