Job Description
The Machine Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs advanced manufacturing equipment used in printed circuit board (PCB) production and electronics assembly. This role focuses on troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, performing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently in a high‑tech manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain manufacturing machines when they malfunction or show signs of performance issues.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment to reduce unplanned breakdowns and extend machine life.
- Work on PCB manufacturing and electronics assembly equipment, including SMT (surface mount technology) machines, conveyors, ovens, test chambers, vacuum systems, and related support machinery.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems down to individual components using electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
- Safely lock out and tag out machines before performing any maintenance or repair work to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use meters, gauges, and a variety of hand and power tools to test, calibrate, adjust, and repair equipment.
- Interpret and work from electrical and mechanical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints to identify faults and implement effective repairs.
- Document maintenance activities by writing clear repair notes, service reports, and maintenance records as required.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, contributing to root-cause analysis, and recommending long-term corrective actions.
- Occasionally operate forklifts or scissor lifts to access equipment or move machinery and materials as needed.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working with electrical systems, moving machinery, and industrial equipment.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician or field service technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience working with PCB manufacturing or electronics assembly equipment, such as SMT machines, conveyors, ovens, test chambers, or vacuum systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to isolate issues down to individual components across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Industrial maintenance expertise, including machine maintenance, repair, and service in a production setting.
- Proven ability in mechanical troubleshooting and mechanical repair, with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting, including working from schematics and using meters and gauges.
- Familiarity with PLC controls and ladder logic for diagnosing and resolving control-related issues.
- Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic systems as applied to industrial machinery.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, particularly with advanced electronics or PCB production.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and root-cause analysis methods to support continuous improvement.
- IPC certifications related to electronics quality standards.
- Comfort operating and supporting various types of industrial machinery and automation equipment.
- Strong mechanical inclination and the ability to quickly learn new equipment and technologies.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.

Work Environment
This role is based in a fast-paced, advanced manufacturing facility focused on PCB and electronics production using SMT equipment, ovens, test chambers, vacuum systems, and other high-tech machinery. The work involves regular interaction with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, along with test equipment such as meters and gauges. Technicians may occasionally use forklifts or scissor lifts to access equipment or move materials. The facility operates on 12-hour shifts with multiple schedule options: A shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday; B shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday through Sunday; C shift runs from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday; and D shift runs from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Thursday through Sunday. The environment is highly technical, collaborative, and safety-focused, with procedures in place for lockout/tagout and safe handling of equipment, chemicals, heat, vacuum, lasers, and drilling systems.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $56000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
