Job Description

The CNC Machinist operates a variety of CNC machines, including 3, 4, and 5 axis equipment, to produce precision parts in an aerospace and aircraft manufacturing environment. This role involves performing setups, reading blueprints, running production parts, and inspecting completed work to ensure it meets strict quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various CNC machines, including 3, 4, and 5 axis equipment, to produce precision aerospace and aircraft components.
  • Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, offsets, and program adjustments, to prepare for production runs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and specifications.
  • Run production parts efficiently while maintaining tight tolerances and high quality standards.
  • Inspect parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance during operation and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining issues and improve processes where possible.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience operating CNC machines.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines, preferably in an aerospace or aircraft environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to perform own setups on CNC machines.
  • Ability to inspect work and verify dimensions during and after machining.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in an aerospace or aircraft manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of hand tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Familiarity with CNC equipment such as Mag Cells and Hyundai machines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic machining issues and adjust programs or tooling as needed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in a production environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a shop environment with approximately 40–50 employees. The facility operates multiple CNC machines, including 3, 4, and 5 axis equipment and brands such as Mag Cells and Hyundai. Work is available on a first shift, Monday through Friday, and an additional shift running Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The role involves standing for extended periods near operating machinery, using hand tools such as calipers and micrometers, and working in a production-focused setting that emphasizes safety, precision, and teamwork.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mulvane, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $25.00/hr.
