Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Precision Machinist (Contractor D level) to support aerospace and defense manufacturing operations in a prototype and engineering-focused environment. This role involves high-precision manual machining, close collaboration with engineering teams, and the fabrication and rework of specialized aerospace hardware.
This is a hands-on, non-production role supporting unique and complex engineering builds.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and adjust manual and semi-automated machining equipment, including Bridgeport mills and manual lathes
- Perform precision drilling and reaming operations with tolerances as tight as .0001”–.0003”
- Execute pinning operations using precision dowel pins to achieve accurate slip and sliding fits
- Align and indicate drill tooling for high-precision setups
- Utilize measurement tools such as Deltronic pins and other precision instruments
- Perform deburring, polishing, and surface preparation to aerospace standards
- Assemble and disassemble mechanical components and fixtures
- Support prototype development, rework, and engineering modifications
- Collaborate closely with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and FOD prevention standards
- Interpret and execute work from blueprints, drawings, and process documentation
