Job Description The Manufacturing Engineer will demonstrate ownership in the manufacturing support of Tactical RF aperture and electronic products in a high mix / low volume aerospace environment, supporting our mission to help the warfighter on advanced technology platforms.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure the manufacturing producibility of aerospace hardware, by guiding the program manufacturing team in the development and implementation of improvements in methods, tooling, and procedures to meet contract/schedule/quality requirements.
- Provide daily hands-on hardware manufacturing support.
- Support the execution of manufacturing build plans that meet program schedule milestones.
- Lead in the creation and analysis of statistical data to identify trends in hardware anomalies to identify actionable trends and improvement opportunities.
- Assume ownership for the proper and timely disposition of program hardware anomalies.
- Actively supports and participates in the applications of LEAN Manufacturing principals and projects including 6S efforts.
- Participate in the creation and implementation of necessary process and program metrics to understand the health of assigned programs while providing a baseline for continuous improvement.
- Work independently or in a team environment to resolve program issues using data-based root cause analysis; diligently apply effective corrective actions.
- Demonstrate the ability to organize information, job tasks, and manage time for most efficient and “best value” performance. Establishes personal objectives; sets expectations of self that are aligned with organizational and departmental HOSHIN goals.
- Review drawings, procedures, and engineering orders for completeness. Implement engineering changes and incorporate corrective action.
- Lead in the development, maintenance and enforcement of effective and efficient manufacturing build instructions that meet program, customer, and government compliance requirements.
- Maintain and control hardware tooling in accordance with quality business system requirements.
- Contribute to and / or present technical data in support of technical exchange meetings, manufacturing / test readiness reviews, and program status reviews with program managers and customers.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Design Engineering, M&P Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management, process labs and outside suppliers. Maintain excellent rapport with internal/external customers.
- Understand and competently uses in-house business systems including Product Data Management, Manufacturing Execution System, MRP, manufacturing shop floor control, and internal status reporting.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
