The Collins Aerospace HS Marston site in Wolverhampton has been providing products for aerospace use for over 90 years; from the inception of aircraft and aero-engine manufacture in Great Britain. Today we supply an integrated range of heat transfer and fluids management products for commercial and military spanets, including heat exchangers, metallic and flexible hoses, fuel manifolds, and ozone converters.
What You Will Do
The manufacturing engineering function supports the business in the following areas: core build and corrugation manufacture, commercial value stream, military value stream and digitalisation (introduction of Solumina). The expectation will be that the Manufacturing Engineer will support these value streams in achieving OTD and quality metrics. The Manufacturing Engineer will be expected to provide engineering support to suppliers, customers, and design to meet daily production & program needs. Occasionally the Manufacturing Engineer will be required to carry out tasks outside their normal reemit and hours, so flexibility is essential.
Core Accountabilities:
- Deliver New Product Introduction (NPI) manufacturing activity for allocated projects.
- Production support; Tooling, Test Fittings and Fixture sign off. Non-conformance analysis where required. RCCA activity where required. Process improvement activity where required. Create and control routes and Bills of Material (BOM). Create and control standard work including SOP’s and Operation Workbooks
- Support creation of PFMEA, PPAP and PRS documents
- Support activities to achieve total manufacturing cost (TMC)
- New equipment validation.
- Implement the use of CORE Tools and Lean activities.
- Comply with all Environmental, Health & Safety requirements.

Qualifications We Prefer
- Heat exchanger manufacture and/or experience of fabrication, brazing and welding assembly processes
- Able to apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to industry standards
- Read and understand technical drawings for product and tooling
- Overall process ownership
- Siemens NX proficient (or other 2D/ 3D), modelling, drafting and assemblies
- 3D/Additive printing experience desirable
- Teamcenter PLM experience
- Aerospace, Automotive or Oil & Gas background favourable
- Self-Inspection techniques and industry standard measuring/ inspection techniques
- Comfortable challenging existing methods and suggesting improvements
- HNC / Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience in heat exchanger manufacture.
- Should be comfortable challenging existing methods and suggesting improvements.
- Ability to operate with minimal direction and set own agenda
- Credible individual who can influence at all levels within an organisation
- Ability to manage multi-disciplined projects
