The Manufacturing Engineering Development Program (MEDP) is a 2-year development program in manufacturing focused on developing and accelerating technical expertise across the Supply Chain. Engineers in the MEDP will work in manufacturing engineering assignments to gain experience through a mix of on-the-job training and classroom education structured to provide a foundation of technical and leadership skills. Our Multi-modal Manufacturing Facility (MMF) in Pune plays a crucial role in manufacturing key aerospace components, supporting not only India’s defense and commercial sectors but also global aviation supply chains. Role Overview:
- Safety: Promote and implement shop floor safety initiatives and best practices.
- Quality: Ensure adherence to aerospace quality standards and regulatory compliance in manufacturing processes. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues using structured problem solving methods
- Process Development: Assist in developing and optimizing processes, including tooling design, cycle time analysis, and line balancing to meet production requirements. Utilize various design and analytical software to support and improve manufacturing processes.
- Robotics & Automation Solutions: Support evaluation, selection, and implementation of robotic cells, collaborative robots (cobots), and automated equipment for manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Engineering: Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing skills and interpret blueprints to facilitate component manufacturing processes.
- Support to Operations: Provide daily hands on support to shopfloor personnel for troubleshooting process issues, engaging with operations, quality teams to quickly resolve problems.
- Continuous Improvements: Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements to improve product quality, increase throughput, and reduce manufacturing costs. Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to identify waste and support decision-making processes
- Data Analytics: Collect and analyze data from manufacturing processes to drive short- and long-term actions that support production.
- Gain exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies such as Automation, Robotics, Additive manufacturing, and Digital manufacturing.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain standard work, work instructions, process documentation, PFMEAs, control plans.
- Project Support: Contribute to project planning, timelines, and execution for automation initiatives as part of the MEDP rotations or assignments
The Ideal Candidate:
Hands on experience in problem solving with Mfg knowledge, work with team to advanced mfg technology
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in “Mechanical / Production /Industrial / Mechatronics / Robotics Engineering / Metallurgy Engineering” from an accredited university or college
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA off a 4.0 scale without rounding or Min 7.5 cumulative GPA off a 10.0 scale without rounding.
- Industry experience of 1 to 2 Years as Manufacturing Engineer in Robotics & Automation, Fabrication and Machining, or similar technical domain.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Desire to be hands-on in a manufacturing environment & Comfortable working in a fast-paced shop floor environment around various machine tools and equipment
- Hands-on experience with industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, etc.) or cobots.
- Exposure to vision systems, sensors, or automated inspection.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools (e.g., value stream mapping, standard work, 5S, root cause analysis).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools (e.g., value stream mapping, standard work, 5S, root cause analysis).
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel, Python, Power BI, etc.) to analyze process/production data
- Hands-on experience with EDM, Wire EDM, Laser and CNC Machining Processes.
- Exposure to AS9100, NADCAP processes and DoE, DFM, DFMA Tools
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools (e.g., value stream mapping, standard work, 5S, root cause analysis).
