This role is a hands-on production position supporting operations and assembly processes in an explosive-handling environment. The technician will work under direct supervision and receive on-the-job training (OJT), with opportunities to build skills across assembly, pressing, and basic soldering operations.
Responsibilities:
- Work under direct supervision in explosive handling areas at all times
- Weigh and press inert and energetic materials
- Set up and use analytical balances
- Perform inert assembly operations
- Set up and operate powder presses for pressing operations
- Conduct minor equipment setup for specific processes
- Perform basic cabling, potting, tinning, and assembly tasks
- Assemble components and subassemblies according to visual aids, drawings, and written or verbal instructions
- Modify, rework, or reassemble units as required
- Install subassemblies
- Demonstrate proficient manual dexterity to ensure safe handling of explosive devices
- Attend offsite training classes as required to maintain certifications (e.g., J-STD)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Federal Law requires U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to pass ATF Background Check
No formal education required for this position (education may be required for advancement)
Minimum of 1 year of industry assembly experience
Basic soldering experience preferred
Ability to work under direct supervision
Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English
Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures
- Essential Job Functions Require the Ability To:
- Safely perform fine, detailed assembly work involving small, intricate components.
- Demonstrate sustained manual dexterity and precise hand-eye coordination to handle tools, materials, and assemblies.
- Weigh, press, assemble, and handle inert and energetic materials in designated explosive handling areas in accordance with strict safety procedures.
- Perform repetitive hand and finger movements, including minor cabling, potting, tinning, soldering, and detailed assembly tasks.
- Use visual aids, drawings, and written and verbal instructions to assemble, modify, rework, or reassemble components and subassemblies.
- Maintain visual acuity for close, detailed work over extended periods.
- Sit or stand for prolonged periods and perform repetitive motions consistent with production assembly work.
- Work under direct supervision and follow detailed safety, quality, and process requirements in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Safely perform all essential functions while adhering to applicable safety regulations and company policies.
