Job Title: Sheet Metal Assembler – Aerospace
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling aerospace sheet metal structures and subassemblies by drilling, reaming, countersinking, and installing fasteners to precise specifications. You will work from blueprints, specifications, and work orders to produce high-quality components that meet strict customer and quality requirements, using a variety of hand and power tools in a climate-controlled environment.
Responsibilities
- Drill, ream, and countersink holes in structural components and subassemblies according to blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
- Bolt and rivet structural components and subassemblies to form complete assemblies that meet quality and customer requirements.
- Operate drill fixtures and a variety of hand tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, side cutters, and wrenches, to perform precise assembly tasks.
- Perform sheet metal assembly operations in accordance with aerospace manufacturing standards and procedures.
- Apply various sealants, including Fay and fillet sealants, and other specified sealant types, ensuring proper coverage and adherence to process requirements.
- Install bearings, fasteners, and other hardware accurately and securely in accordance with engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to determine work sequence, tooling requirements, and quality standards.
- Use measuring tools, including accurately reading a 6-inch scale, to verify dimensions and alignment of parts and assemblies.
Essential Skills
- 3 years of experience in aircraft or aerospace manufacturing assembly, particularly in sheet metal assembly.
- Proficiency in riveting and sheet metal assembly within an aerospace or similar precision manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with drilling, reaming, and countersinking holes in metal components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments with climate-controlled facilities.
- Familiarity with quality and customer requirements in precision assembly operations.
- Experience following detailed work orders and process documentation.
- Comfort working on second or weekend shifts as scheduled.

Work Environment
This position is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on aerospace assembly. The role involves regular use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, side cutters, and wrenches, as well as power tools and drill fixtures for sheet metal work. You will work on either a second shift from 4:15 p.m. to 2:45 a.m., Monday through Thursday, or a weekend shift from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday, depending on scheduling needs. The work requires standing, reaching, and squatting frequently during the shift while working around production equipment and assembly stations in a structured, safety-conscious environment
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maize, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr.
