Summary:
Perform high-mix, low-volume SMT and through-hole assembly on complex PCBs.
Remove, replace, and repair bottom-terminated components (QFNs, BGAs, LGAs) using hot-air pencils, hot plates, and rework tools.
Conduct precise reflow, pre-heat, and cooling cycles per component-specific thermal profiles.
Operate and maintain X-ray inspection equipment to verify solder joint integrity on hidden pads.
Interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and BOMs to ensure accurate component placement.
Perform in-process quality checks (visual, AOI, X-ray) and document results per quality standards.
Troubleshoot solder defects (tombstoning, voids, bridges) and implement corrective actions.
Maintain an ESD-controlled environment and follow all safety and compliance protocols.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting tooling or process enhancements.
Work under a microscope for extended periods during inspection and rework.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 6 years of hands-on SMT and through-hole solder assembly/rework experience; aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics experience preferred.
Strong proficiency in X-ray inspection, rework tools, and thermal profile management.
Skilled in reading engineering drawings, BOMs, and work orders.
Excellent troubleshooting ability and keen attention to detail.
Must be able to read and write in English.
Must pass a medical exam as outlined in the supplier guide.
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
