Position Summary:
Level 2 Laboratory Technicians understand chemical concepts and processing principles of chemical solutions. Level 2 Laboratory Technicians shall be fully familiarized with the set up and conducting of chemical experiments, tests, and analyses, using techniques such as spectroscopy, physical or chemical separation techniques, and titrimetric. From recorded data of tests performed, laboratory technicians will prepare technical reports, graphs, or charts, and be able to recognize trends in data so that preventative measures and actions can be applied. Additionally, Level 2 Laboratory Technicians will be expected to perform calibration verification and standardization of the test instruments and equipment, process solution formulization and preparation of chemical solutions for products or processes and following proper disposal practices of chemical solutions. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Sets up, adjusts, and operates laboratory equipment and instruments per specifications required by contract.
- Conduct Lot Acceptance and qualification rests in accordance with customer specifications, engineering drawing or procurement specifications.
- Tests samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
- Perform appropriate test on raw materials received as part of receiving inspection and lot acceptance.
- Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used.
- Evaluate test results and accept or reject material or production lots.
- Prepares graphs and charts.
- Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment.
- Ensure laboratory instruments are properly calibrated.
- Perform Hardness Tests in support of Heat Treat Department.
- Performs metallurgical examinations including but not limited to micro-examination, macro examination, grain flow verification, thread form, decarburization, alpha case determination, and case hardening verification, grain size determination, IGO/IGA determination, and micro-hardness evaluations.

4-7 years related technical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Able to read blueprints. Familiarity with NASM1312 Fastener Test Methods
