This role is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing secure, scalable cloud-native solutions within the Operations environment, ensuring alignment with AWS and Delta standards. As a senior subject-matter expert (SME) in AWS cloud development and architecture, you will provide Service Assurance and Operational technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across architecture, application, infrastructure, and security groups to deliver resilient, compliant cloud solutions.

Expertise in AWS AI services, intelligent agents, and data lake house architectures is essential. Practical experience with deploying cloud-native apps and managing Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) is also vital to be successful in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and implement cloud-native solutions while maintaining architectural integrity and security controls to protect information and ensure compliance with AWS and Delta standards.
  • Serve as a senior SME for AWS, providing guidance on best practices and architecture decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams in cloud application architecture, development, and operational excellence.
  • Design and develop cloud-native applications, tooling, and enhancements, focusing on clean, efficient, and well-documented code across the full technology stack.
  • Produce enterprise-level architectures for AWS deployments, including AI services, cloud-native, and ROSA, collaborating closely with application, infrastructure, security, architecture, and operations teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and steady-state operations for cloud services supporting globally distributed solutions, including enhancements to custom-built utilities and integration with AI components.
  • Coordinate across architecture, infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of secure, scalable solutions.
  • Define, document, and enforce security standards, procedures, and access controls to ensure integrity.
  • Own solution implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and migrations; recommend and evaluate technology options as appropriate.
  • Strategize and provide a forward-looking perspective on emerging technologies and services, aligning them with the organizations roadmap to ensure continual innovation and competitive advantage.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • 7+ years of IT experience, including 4+ years of hands-on software development in DevOps and build-to-manage environments.
  • Demonstrated AWS cloud experience, including:
    • Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CDK, CloudFormation)
    • CI/CD tooling (e.g., Tekton, Gitlab CI)
    • AWS Cloud Development Kits (CDK)
    • AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM)
    • AWS CloudFormation
    • AI and Machine Learning services (e.g., Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock AgentCore)
    • Data lake house architectures using AWS services (e.g., AWS Lake Formation, Amazon Athena, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Glue, Amazon S3)
  • Proven experience building highly resilient, scalable, cross-region AWS applications.
  • Strong understanding of web services, APIs, and microservices architectures.
  • Hands-on application development experience using Java, TypeScript, and Python.
  • Experience deploying and supporting Red Hat OpenShift on AWS for high‑traffic, production workloads.
  • Strong knowledge of high‑availability, failover, and disaster‑recovery patterns.
  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and secure coding standards.
  • Experience working in DevOps and build‑to‑manage operating models.
  • Proficiency with Git-based source control systems (GitHub).
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of 12‑factor application principles, with the ability to coach others on best‑practice implementation patterns.
  • Strong background in cloud‑native architectures.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to engineers, business analysts, and subject‑matter experts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles for authentication and authorization.
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • AWS Certified Professional
  • Experience integrating source systems with agents, MCPs, and servers, including:
    • Designing and implementing data pipelines for seamless connectivity
    • Troubleshooting and optimizing integration workflows for reliability and performance
    • Ensuring secure data transfer and compliance with organizational policies
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools, such as Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, Sumo Logic, or Dynatrace.
  • Experience or deep knowledge of ServiceNow
  • Familiarity with identity federation protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC).
  • Experience across multiple IT domains, including application development, infrastructure, operations, and business continuity.
  • Demonstrated history of driving transformational or modernization initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
