Services include but are not limited to non-destructive testing such as fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and a wide variety of surface enhancement processes such as shot peening and abrasive blasting, passivation, cadmium and nickel zinc plating, chromic, sulfuric and boric sulfuric acid anodizing and the application of chromate conversion coating on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Organic coating includes the application and testing of multiple resin systems such as epoxies, phenolics, polyurethanes, polyesters, elastomerics, intumescents, lacquers, alkyds, acrylics, dry-film lubricants, powder coatings and Teflon. Founded in 1976, Protective Coatings Inc. was later acquired by Precision Castparts in 2012, and became part of the Aerostructures Division. Position Summary:
Selected candidates for Abrasive Blast Operator Level 1 position, under direct supervision, will be expected to perform a variety of simple blasting techniques and methods using various types of blasting media such as aluminum oxide, glass bead, and plastic media, all in the efforts to effectively clean and prepare surfaces for future processes. Candidates must have the ability and desire to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced production environment, be resourceful and innovative along with presenting a strong business ethic and compliance to leadership and company policies, and a good communicator with the ability to represent the company in a positive manner. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Insuring and validating part cleanliness, damage free surfaces, and part configurations are some of the essential functions a level one blast operator will be required to perform. Other responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and organized work area, as well as adherence to organization safety rules and regulations. As a condition of assignment, Level 1 Abrasive Blast Operator candidates may be expected to process product controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or Export Administration Regulations. As such these candidates may be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, Legal Permanent Residence or protected status as a Non-Citizen National of the U.S.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and assimilating work instructions relating to cleaning, masking, and abrasive blasting operations.
- Perform receiving inspections (before processing) as needed and immediately report any damage or discrepancy.
- Abrasive blasting production parts and hardware using Aluminum Oxide, Plastic Media, and Glass Beads.
- Gathers supplies such as racks, tooling, baskets, carts (etc).
- Oiling and/or packaging of parts for protection.
- Cleaning of production parts which include degreasing or manual solvent cleaning.
- Routine blast cabinet/machine maintenance.
- Will require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during certain tasks (goggles, safety glasses, aprons, boots, gloves, hearing protection, etc) and be expected to comply with safety directives and policy.
- Will be exposed to chemicals/solvents, occasional fumes, and moderate noise level.
- Will at times require heavy lifting or use of mechanical hoist for the aid in lifting objects.
- Work closely with area leadership to complete work and prioritize tasks.
- Clean, organize and maintain work area as prescribed by supervision.
- Complete documentation, counting of production parts, computer scanning, package to protect and transport, and other assigned tasks.
Required Skills:
- Basic mathematic skills: add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods with limited movement.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English. Specifically, applicants must be able to read and understand written procedures and instructions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced and ever-changing environment with multiple priorities.

- Monday to Friday from 2pm to 10:30pm. Must be able to train on day shift, Monday to Friday from 6am to 2:30pm.
