The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Cab Operations Technician to join the team in Seattle, Washington. This position will support the BT&E Lab Test Northwest, Systems Laboratories organization.

This role will work with our team of engineers and technicians who design, build, operate and maintain our six engineering flight deck simulators, as well as a multi-purpose motion simulator and systems integration facility. These engineering Cabs are all located on the Mezzanine of the 2-122 building at North Boeing Field and are replicas of Boeing commercial airplane flight decks used for a variety of testing, including flight test certification of scenarios too dangerous for the real airplane. The motion cab is used throughout an airplane’s life cycle from early studies of aerodynamic performance to fleet support and accident investigation. 

Cab Operations provides technical support to the myriad complex electro-mechanical hardware and software systems that compose our simulation environments.  This includes loading airplane Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) software, troubleshooting problems on the flight deck, and supporting the lab-specific equipment designed to emulate aircraft response for our cab pilots.  

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Experienced Level Cab Operations Technicians.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support to all of our simulation laboratories in a variety of roles

  • Lab operations support including, but not limited to:

    • Start Cabs first thing in the morning; power on procedures, check systems, run daily readiness tests and ensure systems are ready for 1st session of the day

    • Support cab integration configuration of cab (config files, scenario files) and data collection systems if required

  • Airplane maintenance and technical support including:

    • Load updated / specialized LRU software as needed

  • Support emerging needs including:

    • Troubleshooting failed systems

    • Reconfiguring cab systems (e.g., lighting, panels, OTW systems)

  • General mezzanine technician operations

    • Lights, doors, alarms, facilities issues, etc.

    • Fire systems, CO2, all safety issues.

    • Calibration, MATES interface

    • 5S, FOD, Lab Excellence

    • Possible second shift support

  • Upgrades, new facilities and development support

    • MCAB systems

    • Supporting capital projects and system upgrades

    • Cab design / build support

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Familiarity with avionics

  • Experience in any airplane systems

  • Customer support experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • LOTTO & UV Certification

  • Knowledge of BCA commercial airplane & flight deck systems (737MAX, 747, 767, 777ER, 777X, and 787)

  • Knowledge of BDS commercial derivative airplane & flight deck systems (747V, Tanker)

  • Electro/Mechanical system knowledge of motion control systems

  • Experience in maintaining flight simulation systems

  • Experience in troubleshooting complex hardware/software systems

  • Experience working in Seattle IASL Labs, especially with our Lab Test Northwest simulation (PSIM/IAC) tools and simulation systems

  • Microsoft Access experience (used for Operations databases)

Typical Education/Experience: 

Associate (level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years related work experience, etc.).

Experienced (level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years related work experience, 5 years related work experience, etc.).

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range for associate level: $51,000-$69,000

Summary pay range for experienced level: $59,500-$80,500
