Description About the role: We are pleased to announce this incredibly exciting opportunity for a Cargo Operations Officer in our office in Frankfurt Germany as part of the operations team on a 12-month contract. The role holder will be responsible for monitoring smooth cargo operations across the region through close coordination with the GHAs and staff within the station. In this role, you will continuously monitor and develop adherence to regulations outlined by local authorities and regulatory bodies and ensure strict compliance to IATA regulations for effective movement of inbound and outbound cargo whilst reducing operation costs involved.Some of the tasks include:• Implement the developed strategies to enhance services offered whilst reducing operational unit costs incurred in the region. Further be a part of the airline operating committee to address infrastructure issues etc.• Constantly monitor the cargo handling in the station and suggest to the Cargo HDQ best practices to be implemented within the region to achieve operational excellence.• Implement, establish and monitor standard operating procedures (SOP) and Service level agreements (SLA) with the GHAs in the region to ensure smooth cargo operations. This also includes streamlining policies with GHA staff in order to follow procedures in the absence of cargo staff at the respective station.• Maintain the freighter on time performance and ensure no delays occur due to ground operations throughout the delegated region.• Ensure discrepancies and non-conformances are minimized in order to reduce claims and penalties at the respective station to increase customer satisfaction and reduce carrier liability.• Liaise with local Government/ Customs Authorities for obtaining permission; to comply with regulatory issues related to cargo operations.• Monitor staff and GHAs training to ensure all are compliant with Qatar Airways and local regulations/ requirements • Complete staff rosters across multiple locations to ensure appropriate coverage for all passenger and freighter operations• Ensure all safety and security incidents are thoroughly investigated through to root cause analysis and reported within company timeframes• Conduct station audits/inspection checks in line with HQ guidelines on specific areas of the business
Qualifications About youThe successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:• Relevant College or University qualifications with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in the airline or the freight industry.• Load control and Ramp handling courses.• Experience in Air cargo management and operational airline functions will highly desirable.• Knowledge in Air Cargo Operations, perishable cargo handling and Live animal regulations.• Detailed knowledge of IATA Cargo handling, IATA Cargo Services Manual, DGR regulations and other pertinent operational regulations.• Good command of English language You must have the current right to live and work in the EU.
