Chief Architect

 

Why This is an Exciting Role:

This BI&A PRIME contract is seeking a Chief Architect to join their program. In this role, you will assist with workshare, such as responding to RFx, help define the future technical direction of BI&A and its customers, and author playbooks along with content creation for the website. You will work closely with the Program Manager and Chief Engineer to build and enhance high-visibility, collaborative web application tools used in the day-to-day mission, across the customer enterprise and across the broader Intelligence Community (IC). These tools support the management and curation of knowledge/data. Your work will enable data to be updated and shared in real-time and will help drive more informed and timely decisions in matters of national security.

  • Technical Strategy and Planning: Develop and communicate the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap for the program. This involves identifying and evaluating technologies, frameworks, and methodologies to achieve the desired objectives.
  • Architecture Guidance: Work with Product Technical Leads to design the overall structure and framework of a system, database, or application, taking into consideration factors such as scalability, performance, security, and reliability. Help define the system components, interfaces, and interactions to ensure a cohesive and robust architecture.
  • Standards and Best Practices: Establish and enforce technical standards, guidelines, and best practices within the organization. This includes ensuring adherence to coding standards, architectural principles, and software development processes.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Assist in identifying and evaluating technical risks and challenges associated with projects or systems. Help develop strategies and plans to mitigate these risks, ensuring that the architecture can handle potential issues and provide scalable solutions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with stakeholders, including product owners, business leaders, and executives, to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements. Effectively communicate technical concepts, strategies, and progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices. Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to drive innovation and process improvement to the technical capabilities of the organization. Deliver a monthly write-up on your findings, recommendations, and a path forward including pros and cons.

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:

Required Education and Years Experience:

  • 20 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree

Required Qualifications: ​

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph 
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience as a systems architect or systems engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
  • Experience designing and implementing complex software systems, preferably within the Intelligence Community or in a government contracting environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale technical projects, demonstrating an ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with cloud computing technologies, microservices architecture, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • A strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and testing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Experience with generating technical documentation
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment and/or experience using Jira/Confluence are highly desirable

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, information assurance standards, and risk management frameworks relevant to national security and intelligence domains.
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment using Jira and Confluence

    Summary Pay Range:

    Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

    $201,480.00 - $295,920.00
