Job Description:

The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is a key member of the CEO’s executive team, contributing to the development and execution of the long-term strategic plan. The incumbent has the overall responsibility for the Commercial Division. These responsibilities include revenue growth, development of the CAL network, profitability of routes, brand building, customer service and the entirety of passenger sales & spaneting in a volatile geopolitical environment. The CCO will also build a commercialization infrastructure and organization to drive spanet adoption of the company’s products. He/She will position Caribbean Airlines as a resilient, customer-centric carrier in the global aviation spanet. This is a contract (fixed-term) position.

KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Service Delivery: Ensures the delivery of a range of commercial support activities to the development of the business inclusive of, but not limited to, pricing and revenue management, spaneting strategy, sales strategy and structure, product development and network planning.
  • Operational Effectiveness: Ensures effective and efficient utilization of assigned resources, towards achieving operational goals and standards, as well as budgetary compliance.
  • Engagement: Actively supports the implementation of strategies for team and stakeholder engagement to drive business development and growth.
  • Reporting: Ensures the delivery of accurate and timely operational and other reports, with a view to supporting effective data analysis and decision making.
  • People Management: Provides leadership, direction, coaching and guidance to team members towards ensuring the achievement of corporate objectives, continuous improvement and growth of team members.
  • Safety and Quality: Actively supports the advancement of the organization’s safety and quality culture, through personal leadership in this area and compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers strategic leadership for defining the commercial path to restored growth and profitability of the company and the establishment of an effective growth process and infrastructure.
  • Responsible for the budget of the commercial area, including the costs of sales, distribution and other costs associated with revenue production.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive and integrated commercial strategy to rebalance route portfolios, delivering route and network profitability across the business.
  • Develops and implements the company’s sales strategy across key spanet segments to ensure that the company identifies and optimizes a clear path to aggressive growth. Assess, build and manage an array of necessary channels capable of delivering on the company’s growth objectives.
  • Responsible for the branding and image of Caribbean Airlines.
  • Has direct responsibility for delivering targeted financial and growth results through effective revenue management and pricing strategies.
  • Reviews proposals on spanet potential, developing and exploiting spanets, improving spanet position, and provides recommendations for discussion and approval, where necessary.
  • Determines the objectives of the Commercial departments. Monitors and manages the delivery of these objectives through the development of clear performance targets related to sales, profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Provides leadership and direction to team members consistent with the organisation’s policies, procedures, values and people agenda.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • First degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics OR equivalent qualification and experience. MBA or executive qualification in Business management would be a significant asset.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years commercial experience in the aviation industry or global transportation is preferred. Strong commercial experience in complementary industries would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated progressive growth in commercial leadership with at least 5 years at an executive leadership level.
  • Demonstrates a strong track record in stabilizing business units in the airline industry or complementary industries, through deep commercial analysis and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Proven expertise in recovery‑focused revenue management, network planning, and strategic planning - capabilities essential for restoring financial performance, strengthening operational effectiveness, and driving sustainable growth. In short, success in turnaround or restructuring contexts.
  • A background in guiding commercial teams through transformation is essential, along with the ability to influence cross‑functional operations to achieve measurable turnaround outcomes.
