Job Description 1

Position Summary:

Maintains the hazardous waste containment areas and the oil reclaim area by performing the following duties:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Identifies, separates, consolidates, and labels all hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. Ensures all wastes are properly labeled including waste codes, dates, and appropriate identification numbers.
Performs daily inspection of hazardous waste containment area, including drum and tote inventory and site conditions; performs monthly stormwater inspections and monthly air inspections for grinding areas.
Takes manual readings of hour meter and pressure meter readings on plant equipment and pollution control devices.
Handles non-reuseable oils by transferring non-AW32 oils to the oil/water separator; transferring the separated oil to the Non-Reusable Oil tank; taking samples of water prior to pumping into sewer; informs Engineering when level of non-reusable oil reaches a level to be removed.
Keeps area clean and the ground free of oil, including hazardous waste containment area and surrounding trenches; keeps used absorbent segregated from other waste streams.
Verifies that all waste drums and totes do not exceed weight requirements, are closed, and do not have standing oil or water on top of them.
Implements Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Best Management Practices including maintenance of hazardous waste storage areas and general plant area grounds consistent with Plan guidelines.
Uses forklifts to transport outgoing waste to its proper location, including loading trucks for waste pickups.
Serves as a point of contact for oil tanker pump-outs, trash and recycle pickups, and other environmental pickups or projects throughout the site.
Performs sampling of dust, oil, water, stormwater, or other chemicals, as required by various environmental programs.

Required Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
Hazardous Material Handling training certificate
Licensed forklift operator
OSHA 1910.120 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Experience & Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $17 to $22 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company&39;s medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
