Role Overview
This role is responsible for the management of commercial contracts to ensure all contractual and commercial deliverables are achieved. The position operates within the Commercial Team, supporting bid preparation, cost estimation, and adherence to internal commercial processes.
The role also involves collaboration with sales, programme delivery, and operational teams to ensure high standards of internal and external customer service, while maintaining compliance with export regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop accurate cost estimates and pricing structures
- Manage contracts from a commercial perspective throughout their lifecycle
- Prepare and lead the submission of quotations and bids in collaboration with bid management
- Review customer specifications and coordinate inputs from internal stakeholders
- Liaise with procurement teams to confirm supplier requirements and delivery timelines
- Work with manufacturing teams to define production methods, capacity, and lead times
- Ensure alignment between project requirements and manufacturing capabilities
- Conduct internal reviews such as Business Winning Reviews and Contract Acceptance Reviews
- Process customer purchase orders within enterprise systems (e.g. ERP platforms)
- Provide commercial support to sales and programme teams
- Interpret and translate customer requirements into actionable deliverables
- Support programme delivery to ensure contractual obligations and customer expectations are met
- Ensure compliance with applicable export control regulations for goods, services, and information
Organisational Structure
Knowledge & Experience
- Understanding of commercial contracts and customer requirements
- Awareness of commercial risks and key contractual terms and conditions
- Knowledge of cost estimation methods and cost breakdown structures
- Familiarity with formal tendering and bidding processes
- Experience with ERP/CRM systems (e.g. SAP or equivalent)
- Strong negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and business systems
- (Desirable) Exposure to engineering or technical product environments
