Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Quality Audits, responsible for conducting quality & compliance audits on the operational branches including Ground Operations (Airports and International Operations) to ensure they have met the internal and external safety and regulatory standards set forth by Air Canada, IATA (ISAGO), Transport Canada, FAA, and the Canada Labour Code Part II.

Audits include internal and external vendor/supplier audits as well as audits on Express carriers, Ad hoc, and Special Purpose Audits, as required.

This position is open for all Canada locations. 

Responsibilities :    

Audits are inclusive of, but not limited to operational branches and stations in Canada, US, and International Stations where there are ground handling operations either Above the Wing and/or Baggage and Ramp, security, and environmental programs Audits are also required for third party suppliers who provide an essential service to Air Canada, as well International stations where deicing operations occur.

  • Conduct/ Lead audits on Ground Operations within Air Canada including third party suppliers to monitor the level of compliance with regulations, and industry standards
  • Engage the auditee management teams in the audit; distribute pre-audit questionnaire; ensure the management teams are familiar with the audit process.
  • Responsible for communication with audit team & station/base manager regarding changes, scheduling, confirm participation.
  • Provide audit results for non-mainline stations for corrective action management
  • Input audit findings, observations and identify best practices in SIMs
  • Responsible to identify, communicate and follow-up for timely closure of the critical findings requiring immediate action
  • Responsible to monitor the progress of the corrective /preventive actions until the closure of the audit..
  • Share audit results with the station/base/ supplier as required; provide honest, unbiased and open communication on performance results conduct a 20 day post audit call with audited area and escalate outstanding actions as required.
  • Participate in the development of audit check-lists including audit questions
  • Identify, communicate and follow-up for timely closure of the critical findings requiring immediate action
  • Keep record of audit results to facilitate the tracking of findings, observations and identify best practices
  • Observe safety improvements and deficiencies in the operations; bring recommendations
  • Participate in the analysis of repeat finding
  • Participates in the annual review of the audit program and makes recommends changes that will ensure monitoring for effectiveness is in place. Through results of the review, conduct analysis and initiate working groups, projects, etc, for trends found.
  • Align auditing method and processes with peers; provide input in the development of performance targets as required, requirements for new tools, etc. Act as an auditor or as a lead auditor as required
  • Support the Manager, Corporate Quality Audits in developing the audit check-lists including audit questions, sample size, identify critical & non-critical findings; support with other planning tasks to ensure success of the Audit team.
  • Audits are inclusive of, but not limited to: Airport stations in Canada & USA and International where there are ground handling operations for either Above the Wing and/or Baggage and Ramp, security, and environment programs
  • Audits are also required for third party suppliers who provide an essential service to Air Canada, as well International stations where deicing operations occur.
  • Participate in Risk Assessments as required
  • Participate in Ground Ops current training, AQA, HFACS and any other regulatory training

Qualifications

  • Accreditation or certification in Quality Auditing and Quality Management Systems (ASQ, CQMgr, CQA, CQE, CQT, IOSA, ISAGO)
  • Ability to travel frequently and work irregular hours, including weekends when required.
  • Team player with strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to influence.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Self-starter, customer focused, and results driven.
  • Good knowledge of Airport and or In-Flight Service operations an asset
  • Analytical abilities for creative and innovative analysis and problem solving.
  • Work under pressure

Education

  • University education preferred
  • Linguistic requirements – Level 3 preferred
