The Cyber Security Engineering (CSE) team at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a highly experienced Cyber Secure Software Principal to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide guidance and support to the Cyber Secure Software (CSS) team. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the companys strategy for software security.

As the Cyber Secure Software Principal, you will play a key role in providing technical leadership and guidance to the CSS team, consulting on contracted and IRAD projects, and advising on the companys software security strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software security, experience providing Subject Mater Expert (SME) support to all technical levels throughout the organization, and a proven track record of performing software security assessments and developing and implementing software security mitigations. Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and hands-on involvement to a team of cybersecurity and software engineers specializing in Software Product Assessments (SPAs). Mentor and support the team in identifying complex, exploitable vulnerabilities within software systems and weapon system architectures.
2. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development, engineering, and IT, to integrate security measures seamlessly into the software development life cycle. Implement AppSec practices across multiple lines of business at Aeronautics.
3. Talent Development: Create and maintain training materials to support skill development in software assurance and vulnerability analysis. Lead efforts to update and refine company standards and processes related to software security, ensuring alignment with evolving best practices and industry requirements.
4. Strategy Development: Shape and implement the companys strategy for software security. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging threats, and best practices to inform strategic decision-making.

Basic Qualifications:
1. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
2. Proven experience leading engineering teams.
3. Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
4. Strong understanding of software architectures, including embedded systems, software development, and secure coding principles.
5. Strong command of programming languages such as C/C++, Ada, Java, Python, or equivalent.
6. Project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Skills:
1. Proficient in proactively identifying and analyzing security threats within complex software weapon systems.
2. Skilled in reverse engineering and vulnerability research to uncover hidden or advanced threats.
3. Familiar with tools and techniques for static and dynamic code analysis.
4. Effective at documenting findings and communicating risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
5. Skilled in firmware analysis and vulnerability detection.
6. Ability to analyze Statements of Work (SOWs) and technical documentation to derive precise software security requirements.
7. Familiarity with generating Basis of Estimates (BoEs).
8. Skilled in integrating security considerations early in the software development lifecycle, including through Security Development Plans (SDPs).
9. Proficient in translating high-level security objectives into actionable, testable requirements to ensure complete contract scope coverage and high-quality delivery.
10. Deep understanding of industry standards, regulatory frameworks, and emerging threats to inform secure design and implementation.
11. Experience leading independent research initiatives to identify and address evolving application security challenges.
12. Innovative mindset with the ability to prototype and implement advanced security solutions that enhance organizational capabilities.
13. Strong collaboration skills with engineering and product teams to embed modern security practices into development workflows.
14. Proven ability to mentor and train technical staff at all levels through structured programs, workshops, and technical documentation.
15. Recognized as a subject matter expert who fosters a culture of continuous learning and security excellence.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $189,000 - $327,635. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as spanet and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $164,300 - $289,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as spanet and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
