The Director – Cyber Security is accountable for providing strategic leadership for the global GE Aerospace Cybersecurity Insider Threat Operations team. This role is responsible for leading a team of cybersecurity investigators to review alerts of potential loss of data and IP, provide forensic analysis and support to insider threat cases, compliance investigations, and legal matters, and identify controls and recommendation to improve data loss prevention (DLP) controls. Roles and Responsibilities
In this role, the Director – Cyber Security leading the Insider Threat Operations team will:
Build and develop a world-class team of cybersecurity investigators focused on identifying, analyzing, and mitigating insider threats.
Coordinate regular operations of the Insider Threat Working Group (ITWG) to develop and implement comprehensive insider threat detection and prevention strategies.
Develop, continuously improve, and follow standard work and procedures to manage investigations related to insider threat with the support of legal counsel.
Lead the cybersecurity forensics program to collect, analyze, and retain images, logs, and technical artifacts in support of investigations and legal matters.
Collaborate with other cybersecurity teams to ensure data protection best practices, controls, and policies are implemented and effective across the organization.
Oversee the deployment and management of security tools and technologies related to insider threat detection.
Benchmark program capabilities against industry standards and peer organizations, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards for data protection and cybersecurity.
Partner with security awareness leaders to provide timely and relevant inputs to security awareness programs to educate employees about insider threats and data protection best practices
Plan and manage budgets related to scope of team
Define key security metrics, tracking, and reporting
Communicate effectively both within immediate team and GE leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results
Stay informed with the latest trends and technologies in cybersecurity to continuously enhance the organizations defenses.
Education Qualification
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 8 years of professional experience OR associate’s degree with minimum of 11 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 13 years of professional experience
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Cybersecurity Investigations and Data Protection or Digital Technology (DT)
Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience
Eligibility Requirement:
Due to the nature of the work being performed, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance.
Desired Characteristics
Knowledge of aerospace and defense industries or GE Aerospace enterprise and cyber threats
Deep knowledge of insider threat detection, data protection, and cybersecurity frameworks, tools, and technologies
Prior experience in leading insider threat teams, cybersecurity incident response or investigations, and data forensics
Familiarity with DoD and CMMC security and regulatory requirements
Understanding of Intelligence Driven Defense concepts including the MITRE ATT&CK Framework, and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) related to detecting potential insider threats
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of cybersecurity professionals
Ability to solve very complex security issues that span legal, compliance and regulatory obligations
Demonstrated thought leader, delivering new, supporting innovation solutions to exceed customer expectations
Excellent interpersonal, written / verbal communication and leadership skills with the ability to quickly build credibility, influence and make recommendations across all levels and business functions
Demonstrated experience embracing “team of teams” way of working
