OnsiteWe are looking for an experienced practitioner to join our Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) team as an Audit and Compliance Officer/ Advisor. This role enables the delivery of our business protection and continuity strategy whilst ensuring legal, external and internal stakeholder compliance by providing EH&S work advice, coaching and mentoring across all levels of our organization.
You will be eager to champion a positive EH&S work culture by identifying pragmatic and collaborative solutions, promoting EH&S best practice and building EH&S literacy and capability. This role will offer the successful candidate a mix of EH&S operational support responsibilities combined with assisting the Manager of Environment, Health and Safety with strategic planning and delivery in an exciting but complex joint venture partnership/ multiple PCBU environment.
What You Will DoLiaising with, advising and educating the leadership team, staff and external contractors on the applicable Environment, Health and Safety requirements to foster a positive culture of engagement and empowerment.
Supporting the ongoing improvement of the Company’s EH&S culture, processes and programs through review, research, and refinement, and assisting with implementation of improvements.
Undertaking audits, both internal and external, conducting risk assessments and incident investigations as required.
Experience and a working knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Hazardous Substance regulations and guidelines.
Supporting areas of the business involved in contractor management to ensure the partnership/ PCBU responsibilities are understood and met.
Specifying, delivering and facilitating internal EH&S training to lift capability and build awareness.
Providing advice, mentorship and guidance to our group of voluntary employee EH&S Council Sub-Committee members, Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) elected employee EH&S representatives through regular engagement.
Qualifications You Must Have
Have a relevant tertiary qualification
Have completed a (Lead) Auditor certificate and preferably an Occupational Health and Safety qualification such as the NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent
Have equivalent work experience at a mid to senior level within a medium size or large organization
Have proven experience in developing and implementing environment, health and safety management systems and programs including training / consulting
Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
Qualifications We Prefer
Be able to promote EH&S compliance at all organisational levels
Demonstrated ability to create and develop user friendly EH&S tools and resources
Be able to think strategically as well as operationally and cope with business complexity
Have experience in operational hazard and risk management, contractor management, environment, health and safety auditing and investigation
Have a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and good organizational skills
Be curious, have a continuous improvement mindset and easily build trusting relationships
Be a confident, effective communicator and a strong team player
Be passionate about your work, take pride in your work and always strive for the best
Demonstrate a solution-oriented approach and best-practice knowledge
Have a high level of computer and IT literacy
Be flexible and adaptable
Ideally be familiar with operational / production / engineering environment
