Fiberglass Subassembler I-1st shift (Full Time)
Department: All Openings

Assists the Supervisor in the production of high-quality aircraft parts & subassemblies following Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.

Essential Job Functions:

Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:

  • Build complex parts such as A/C ducts, Seminole nose bowls, and glareshields.
  • Patch and grind complex parts such as cockpit headliners, hatshelves, window panels, and radar pods.
  • Assemble complex parts such as blower assemblies, inertial separators, and cowls assemblies.
  • Inspect and buy off own work using Piper inspection certifications, including torque requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve the teams performance including reduction of late work, elimination of quality defects & scrap, increasing productivity and generating cost reductions.
  • Ability to and willingness toreceive and share practical knowledge,train,and mentor teammates within career pathto perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
  • Adhere, maintain and assist teammates within career path to all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
  • Perform duties of lower graded position within Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision.

  • High school diploma / GED; or completion of verifiable occupational readiness training program, or minimum of 5 years of directly related fiberglass experience in lieu of high school diploma / GED.
  • Related fiberglass subassembler experience requirements:
    • Fiberglass Subassembler I: 1 year of experience
    • Fiberglass Subassembler II: 2 - 3 years of experience
    • Fiberglass Subassembler III: 3 - 4 years of experience
    • Senior Fiberglass Subassembler: 5 years of experience
  • Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Use of hand and power tools as required.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and PPE, including proper fit and use of respirators as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions.

Physical Demands

Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out, and below.

Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions need to be controlled. Working Conditions

Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.

Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members and regulatory agency representatives.
