IT Systems Administrator
Yearly Salary: $60,000 Based on Experience Level
Key Responsibilities
IBM Power 8 & Legacy Application Support
- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the IBM Power 8 system.
- Support and update custom RPG II, RPG III, and RPG IV applications.
- Perform routine maintenance, backups, and system health checks.
- Implement small enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
- Assist leadership with long-term planning for system modernization.
General IT Infrastructure
- Provide support for Windows-based PCs, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Maintain user accounts, permissions, and security policies.
- Troubleshoot and maintain network hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
- Support connectivity and basic IT needs across all company locations.
- Offer remote and occasional on-site assistance, primarily from the Billings headquarters.
Security & Compliance
- Apply cyber security best practices across all systems.
- Monitor for vulnerabilities and ensure timely patching.
- Support aviation-related compliance requirements for data integrity and system reliability.
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain clear documentation of systems, procedures, and changes.
- Communicate technical issues in a straightforward, non-technical manner.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience with IBM Power systems (AS/400, iSeries, or Power 8).
- Working knowledge of RPG II, RPG III, and RPG IV.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking.
- Proficiency with Windows desktop environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities within limited hours.
Preferred
- Experience in aviation, logistics, or other operationally critical industries.
- Familiarity with SQL, CL programming, or IBM i modernization tools.
- Experience supporting multi-site organizations.
- Knowledge of cyber security frameworks.
Working Conditions
- Full-time schedule with flexibility based on operational needs.
- Occasional travel to company locations across five states.
- Limited on-call availability for critical system issues.
- Primary work location: Billings, MT headquarters.
