Job Summary:

  • Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern to join our team to support safety activities in East Hartford, CT and Middletown, CT.
  • This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced aerospace environment while contributing to the safety and well-being of our employees and the communities in which we operate.
  • As Pratt & Whitney continues to innovate and expand its operations, there is a growing need for skilled professionals in environmental, health, and safety disciplines.
  • An EHS intern will provide a resource to the Central Corporate Safety Team, East Hartford, CT, and Middletown, CT EH&S teams to facilitate progress to key programs.
  • An EH&S intern will play a vital role in supporting Pratt & Whitneys commitment to continuous improvement in safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of health, and safety programs and procedures. 
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of accidents or near-misses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental, health, and safety.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of safety training programs.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement in EH&S initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Safety or related field.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
