Job Description
This position involves the installation, commissioning, and servicing of electrical power systems, including generators, inverters, battery storage systems, and network/communications cabinets. The role is focused on execution and requires adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures, drawings, and checklists to complete installations safely and efficiently. It primarily involves fieldwork with periodic travel.
Responsibilities
- Install and terminate electrical equipment, wiring, conduit, cable tray, and electrical panels.
- Install and integrate backup generators and transfer equipment.
- Install battery energy storage systems.
- Install inverters and power conversion equipment.
- Install network and communications cabinets.
- Install grounding, surge protection, and system bonding.
- Pull, route, label, and terminate power and low-voltage/data cabling.
- Perform equipment startup and functional testing per SOP.
- Execute work strictly according to company SOPs, installation manuals, and electrical drawings.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions.
- Complete installation checklists, test reports, and commissioning documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with NEC and applicable local electrical codes.
- Test electrical systems using meters and diagnostic equipment to ensure safe and proper operation.
- Troubleshoot wiring, panels, controls, and equipment during installation and startup.
- Identify installation issues and escalate to engineering or supervisors when needed.
- Support inspections and correct any deficiencies.
- Follow all OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards.
- Perform lock-out/tag-out and arc-flash safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean and safe job site.
- Promote a strong safety culture and zero-incident mindset.
- Complete work orders, daily reports, and installation documentation.
- Communicate progress, material needs, and issues to supervisors.
- Provide professional interaction with customers and site contacts.
Essential Skills
- 4+ years of electrical installation experience.
- Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of NEC and safe electrical work practices.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician License preferred.
- Experience installing or servicing generators, battery backup, solar, or power systems preferred.
- Experience with backup generators or transfer switches.
- Experience with battery energy storage systems.
- Experience with inverters or solar PV systems.
- Experience with low-voltage or network cabinet installations.
- Experience working in field service or construction environments.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
