Junior Software Developer

Job Description:

The Junior Software Developer will work closely with experienced developers and business stakeholders to design, develop, test, and support software solutions. This position is designed for a motivated early-career professional eager to grow technical expertise while directly contributing to M1’s enterprise application initiatives.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Software Development and Coding
• Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of web and business applications.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following established standards.
• Learn and apply development frameworks, such as .NET (C) and/or PHP.
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior developers. Database and Data Management
• Write and optimize basic SQL queries.
• Support data access, reporting, and troubleshooting efforts.
• Assist with database design, updates, and performance improvements. Testing, Debugging, and Support
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects.
• Assist with application testing and quality assurance activities.
• Support production issues and ongoing application maintenance.
• Participate in deployments and post-release validation. Collaboration, Learning, and Process Improvement
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to understand system requirements.
• Document technical solutions, processes, and system changes.
• Participate in team meetings, Agile/Scrum processes, and development planning.
• Actively engage in mentorship with senior developers to expand technical depth.
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions and create documentation to support institutional learning.
• Continuously learn new technologies, tools, and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education

• Relevant certifications or coursework in software development (e.g., Azure Fundamentals, Azure Developer Associate [in progress or planned]). Experience
• 1–3 years of professional or internship experience in software development or database administration.
• Hands-on familiarity with:
o SQL and databases. o .NET (C, ASP.NET) and/or PHP development. o Version control systems (e.g., GIT). o Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). o Microsoft Power Platform:
Power Apps, Power Automate
• Exposure to cloud environments (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP experience considered transferable). Skills & Competencies
• Eager to learn development frameworks and methodologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow structured development practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a growth-oriented mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in documenting processes and technical details.
Working Conditions:

• Reports to Software & Data Engineering Manager at M1’s Enterprise, AL Office
• Office environment with remote work allowed depending on business needs
