Position Type: Contractor
Job Description:
Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

The purpose of this internship is to experience being in a dynamic government affairs environment while providing administrative and advocacy support to the Joby Policy team. You will be exposed to defense, civil aviation, and energy-related political landscapes while collaborating with team members in international, federal, state, and local governments.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with office visits, conference tracking, event planning and attendance.
  • Learn about the policy/regulatory aspects of introducing the Joby aircraft to markets at the federal, local, and state levels.
  • General policy research, congressional bill tracking, and federal government calendar tracking
  • Assistance in managing relationships with trade associations
  • Assisting in preparing briefing materials for stakeholder meetings
Required
  • Be an undergraduate, trade school, junior college, or high school student
  • Or be a recently graduated college student
  • Has a passion for eVTOL and emerging mobility technologies
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Posses a collaborative spirit, is excited to learn, and ready to engage by taking initiative in one’s work
Desired
  • Educational background or deep interest in federal, state, and local government/policy
  • Experience with administrative duties, event planning, and general project management
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Preferred locations: D.C., NYC, or LA based.

The pay range for undergraduate interns, which includes freshman to senior level students, is $19-32/hr. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor, Master, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,400-$7,500/month. This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
