Job Title: Powder Coater
Job Description
This role focuses on helping to set up, operate, and maintain a new powder coating process within a manufacturing facility. You will take part in installing and finishing the powder coating room, configuring supporting systems, and ensuring that all coating, cleaning, and curing activities run efficiently and safely while meeting quality standards such as ISO 9000.
Responsibilities
- Assist in installing and completing a new powder coating room, ensuring it is ready for production.
- Build and finish a wall extension to support a water rinse system.
- Paint the powder coating room, install a drop ceiling, and set up air vents to control powder overspray and maintain a clean environment.
- Set up and operate the cleaning and rinsing process for parts prior to coating.
- Use a specialized cleaning solution at high temperature to prepare parts for powder coating.
- Rinse parts with purified water using a heated rinse booth to ensure proper surface preparation.
- Operate the powder coating system, including equipment with multiple filters, to apply coatings consistently and safely.
- Use a large industrial oven to cure coated parts according to specified time and temperature requirements.
- Handle and organize tools and materials such as masking tables, drying rods, and storage areas to keep the workspace efficient and orderly.
- Follow established safety procedures when handling chemicals, operating equipment, and managing waste.
- Coordinate safe disposal of waste and rinse water using approved services and methods.
- Read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, or production documentation as needed to support coating and related processes.
- Support general production, industrial painting, and coating tasks as required.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical, pneumatic, and coating equipment to maintain smooth operation.
- Use hand tools and work with structural and molding components as needed in the setup and production process.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience working with powder coating processes.
- Proven experience with industrial painting and powder coat painting in a production environment.
- Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards and the ability to follow documented procedures.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information to team members.
- Practical knowledge of setting up and operating powder coating equipment, including sprayers and multi-filter systems.
- Experience using industrial ovens for curing coated parts.
- Ability to follow safety procedures when working with chemicals, coatings, and industrial equipment.
- Capability to read and understand basic blueprints and schematics.
- Competence with hand tools and mechanical tasks related to equipment setup and maintenance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with construction-related tasks such as building wall extensions, painting rooms, and installing drop ceilings.
- Experience in general labor within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of paint preparation, masking techniques, and coating best practices.
- Experience working with pneumatics and mechanical systems in a production setting.
- Familiarity with plastic and injection molding processes, including injection molding machines and molds.
- Ability to organize work areas, tools, and materials for efficient workflow.
- Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, structural, and molding-related issues.
- Comfort working with production documentation and structural components.
- Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality in all coating and finishing tasks.

Work Environment
The role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility that is implementing a new powder coating room and related systems. You will work around powder coating equipment, multi-filter spray systems, a heated rinse booth, and a large industrial curing oven. The environment involves hands-on tasks such as construction-related setup, painting, installing drop ceilings and air vents, and organizing masking tables, drying rods, and storage areas. Work typically takes place on the production floor, requiring regular use of hand tools, mechanical and pneumatic equipment, and adherence to established safety procedures for handling chemicals, coatings, and waste. Proper industrial work attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected to ensure safety while working with cleaning solutions, purified water systems, and powder coating operations.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $52000.00/yr.
