Responsibilities:Oversight of the Special Assistance Program and Station Emergency Response Program; Corporate Emergency Notification System and the Crisis Information Management System and respective program elements.Developing Emergency Response policies and procedures for aircraft accidents and incidents in adherence with regulatory and IOSA requirementsFunctioning as the liaison with government agencies, IATA and Star Alliance regarding Emergency Response ProceduresParticipating with industry, regulatory and/or government agencies in establishing emergency response policies and recommended practicesEnsure maintenance of Emergency Response Facilities – Emergency Response Centre and Special Assistance CentreDevelop and manage Express Carriers, Alliance and Codeshare Emergency Response agreementsEnsure that the Station Emergency Response Plan template is aligned with the Corporate Emergency Response PlanDevelop and maintain policies and procedures for the Special Assistance TeamDevelop and conduct exercises to test the Company’s ability to respond to an aircraft accident or major incidentDevelopment of training content for the Corporate Emergency Response Team and the Special Assistance TeamAssist in the management of an aircraft accident or incident that results in the activation of the emergency response planCoaching, guiding, counseling and developing subordinate staff accordingly.Provide support to the Director, Emergency Management for special projects and/or new initiatives.
Authority:On behalf of the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, establish, promote and support Emergency Response activities at Air Canada and at External parties in accordance with the applicable Service Level Agreement or Contract.
QualificationsEducation: university diploma in arts or sciences and courses in Emergency Planning preferred.License(s), attestation(s), certification(s), association(s) required: NoneLinguistic requirements (Proficiency level 1-4): Level 4 English••Proficiency in English and French would be an asset.Previous management experience in Airports, System Operations Control, Flight Operations or In-Flight Service.Management experience to include budgeting and project management. Experience participating in, and working with, international forums (working groups, task forces, committees etc.) would be an asset.Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
