You will be working within the safety business unit of of Airbus Protect, in the role of a safety engineer supporting our customer in Donauwörth on safety analysis of helicopter functions and systems

Location

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we support Airbus Helicopters in developing helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Business Unit

This position is part of our Safety Business Unit, which aims to enable safer, greener and more inclusive industries and transportation systems

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Performing System Safety Assessment activities for military aircraft systems, supporting the phases during and after certification

  • Generating and update of assessments (Functional Hazard Assessment/System Safety Assessment) of intended design modifications to influence the system architecture according to the required System Safety/System Integrity

  • Performing Risk Analyses, according to the applicable guidance and standards, which are required to support the continuous aircraft development (including Permit to Fly/Type Certificate)

  • Performing analyses of Common-Cause (Particular Risk Analysis, Zonal Safety Analysis and Common Mode Analysis)

  • Determine the particular Safety requirements for system developments or modifications with respect to hardware and software

  • Establish requests for evidence (tests, simulation, analyses), as well as Procedures and Limitations for ground- and aircrew

  • Manage and establish integrity requirements at the interface to interacting systems

  • Manage input from and output to interfacing technical domains and technology (processes, maintenance, human error, aircraft performance and quality, etc.)

  • Review, approval and application of supplier data regarding Safety and Reliability Generating the System Safety Assessment documentation, based on traceable results and evidence, as mandatory proof to acquire the Type Certificate

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent

  • Knowledge and experience in the above-mentioned areas of responsibility 

  • Experience in the field of System Safety Engineering the aviation industry

  • Advanced knowledge in Aircraft Systems, preferential for Helicopters

  • Target-oriented with analytic problem-solving skills

  • Willingness to learn new things

  • Ability to perform several Systems Safety tasks in parallel

  • Team player, organized and autonomous person with good communication skills

  • Very good written and spoken English

This position may require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
