Senior Java Developer

Job Description:

DPP is seeking a Senior Java Developer for an opportunity in Columbia, SC.

Work arrangement:

Fully onsite in Columbia, SC
W2 position; 6 months

Position summary:

The Senior Java Developer is a key member of a cross-functional Agile Scrum team, collaborating with front-end and back-end developers, business analysts, system testers, and operations staff to support and enhance enterprise applications.

Key responsibilities:

Maintain and enhance existing applications through break fixes and new development.
Provide recommendations for issue resolution and system enhancements within budget and timeline constraints.
Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical challenges.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the software development life cycle.
Exhibit leadership capabilities in technical decision-making and team collaboration.

Required technical skills:

Proficient in Java, JSP, and JavaScript.
Experience with Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, and Hibernate.
Skilled in front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, AJAX, jQuery, and JSON.
Familiarity with SOAP and RESTful Web Services, including WSDL, JAVA-RS, and Spring Boot.
Knowledge of Mutual Authentication and Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) mitigation.
Strong experience with SQL Server and MySQL databases.
Version control using GitHub.
Agile development experience using Scrum methodology.

Preferred tools and technologies:

Spring Security
MQ (Message Queuing)
DevOps tools: Gradle, Jenkins
Monitoring and diagnostics: Splunk
Development environments: Eclipse, NetBeans
Testing and integration tools: SOAPUI, Apache

Minimum required work experience:

8 years of application development, systems testing or other job-related experience.

Required education/equivalencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 12 years without a degree)
