Strategic Sourcing Associate — Level 2
Job Description:

With more than 120 operations and approximately 20,000 employees worldwide, Precision Castparts Corp. is the spanet leader in manufacturing large, complex structural investment castings, airfoil castings, forged components, aerostructures and highly engineered, critical fasteners for aerospace applications. In addition, we are the leading producer of airfoil castings for the industrial gas turbine spanet. We also manufacture extruded seamless pipe, fittings, and forgings for power generation and oil & gas applications; commercial and military airframe aerostructures; and metal alloys and other materials for the casting and forging industries. With such critical applications, we insist on quality and dependability – not just in the materials and products we make, but in the people we recruit.

PCC is relentless in its dedication to being a high-quality, low-cost and on-time producer; delivering the highest value to its customers while continually pursuing strategic, profitable growth.

In 2016, Berkshire Hathaway, led by Chairman and CEO Warren E. Buffett, acquired Precision Castparts Corp.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for assigned parts/services; consolidate bids and perform basic should‑cost and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analyses.
  • Support supplier selection and onboarding; coordinate with Supplier Quality for compliance with AS9100 aerospace quality standards and AS9120 aerospace distribution standards, and special process qualifications such as NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) where required.
  • Draft and administer purchase orders, Statements of Work (SOWs), and basic supply agreements; ensure compliance with applicable trade compliance (e.g., International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and applicable Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)) clauses under guidance.
  • Maintain accurate Enterprise Resource Planning / Material Requirements Planning (ERP/MRP) sourcing data and manage pricing files.
  • Track and report Purchase Price Variance (PPV), on‑time delivery, and cost savings/avoidance metrics.
  • Monitor supplier performance and support corrective actions, including 8D problem‑solving (Eight Disciplines) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Support impact analysis for Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and coordinate re‑sourcing needs.
  • Prepare sourcing analytics such as spend Pareto charts and supplier scorecards.
  • Support documentation for customer, internal, and government audits.
  • Assist with supply chain risk identification (single‑source, long‑lead, capacity, geopolitical) and mitigation steps.
  • Participate in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) and cost‑reduction initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–4 years of procurement or sourcing experience in manufacturing; aerospace preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, ITAR/EAR, and basic DFARS requirements.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings/Bills of Material (BOMs) at a basic level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NADCAP‑controlled special processes (e.g., heat treat, non‑destructive testing, coatings).
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and DFARS government contract flow‑downs.
  • Certifications such as APICS/ASCM (Association for Supply Chain Management), ISM Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Project Management Institute (PMI) coursework.
  • Basic should‑cost modeling skills.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To comply with those regulations, this position may require applicants to be U.S. Persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
